Thoughts on this 5512 from 1962
Hi all,
Asking for opinions on this 1962 Submariner? Sorry for the poor iPad pictures. The watch is currently with Rolex London for verification through the AD where it was sourced from their vintage section. I have asked for an estimate for full service but given the order of no work to be carried out without my permission. Some details 818---- serial with a 1530 movement with a rivet 3/62 clasp, gilt dial with silver depth rating, case back stamped 62 and case 5512. Kind Regards, M |

Probably need better photos of the dial - with a loop in hand you should be able to check the print against the 'mattedial 5513 website' - a resource you should become familiar with.
http://www.5513mattedial.com/5512/1961-1962.html from the photos i would say the dial looks like it was relumed with luminova, later luminova hands and later bezal/ insert. -the 'Vintage AD'??! - have they volunteered information about the originality of the parts? they should know... im sure others will give more substantial advice, id trust the forum members far more than the shop trying to sell you the watch or Rolex themselves |
