Icon1 Full Scan: 1972 Rolex/Tudor Military Catalog

I recently came into a 1970's Rolex 1680 Red Submariner that came with a very interesting piece of documentation: A Military mail order Rolex catalog which it was ordered from nearly 45 years ago! Since several people have asked to see what is inside, I'm posting it here as a reference in pictures, and the prices are downright incredible. As a reference, $100 in 1970 is worth about $610 dollars today in 2014.

See the whole catalog here: http://www.wristtimes.com/blog-1/201...-order-catalog

PS - I didn't know that back then the DateJust was significantly more expensive than a Sub/GMT...

That brings back memories. I bought my 1675 in 1972 from the BX at Bitburg AB, Germany for $178. My son wears it today.

Great first post. How cool is that? Really cool story and so great to hear your son is loving it. Fantastic.

Amazing! You could have bought all four sports Rolex for under $800 back then, or just under $6000 nowadays. Still seems very cheap!

Thanks for posting! Very cool. I book marked your site for further future perusal. :-) The prices are a trip, and it's also neat to see the references in official published material from the period. Especially the Ranger, which tends to be very scrutinized when they come up for sale.

Thanks for sharing!

lol 1016's were more expensive than 5513's due to the SCOC movement.

Having missed a $90 new 5513 Submariner in the Quang Tri PX, I
ended up with a 1680 red 1969 Submariner from Hong Kong-$175-with 4 extra crystals.
New in box with all papers and COSC punched SN.
