To change GMT or not… batgirl vs GRNR

Hi all

I have been through a lot of different models but currently have a batgirl, but considering changing to a GRNR bimetal zombie/ guiness think they are called

Plan to keep the watch a long time, not sure whether to keep or change

If I do keep I may add a DJ 41 mint if my AD calls, but otherwise I generally use grey market

Generally, I encourage adding first, selling second.

Doing it the other way around leads to regret (for me)

BLNR Batty Lady is top three GMT so not sure your desire to move it on, but take a look at GRNR if that’s the look you’re after, why not put name on list for new GRNR and wait it out ..

Or another question… to keep the batgirl but what watch to add as a second if you could recommend your top 3 to pick from to add in addition!

I’d be more diverse, if you have a GMT add maybe a Submariner, you have blue black so try green, starbuckers, if going grey they are not too badly priced now, not a massive amount over retail, a Datejust fluted bezel with oyster, you have jubilee so try something bit different, then ultimate is adding a Daytona - all my perspective that is if building a little collection ..

Thanks for the help so far! I do really like the batgirl I think probably by adding another watch will solve to itch to move it on and then I can rotate/ build a small collection like you say.

I have thought about the Starbucks but mk1 or mk2? Or even go hulk instead?

I did consider adding bluesy but they get scratched up quite easily on the PCL oyster.

The panda 116 has also been on my mind but that would be a one and only watch for me as couldn’t really justify keeping a second alongside that purely because a panda is about 22k upwards £ on grey market but they seem to be the best stainless sports in my mind

Hulk needs to be tried on, but to be honest they are softening in the grey market, check out Swiss link , they are superb store , bluesy too similar to batty girly , starbuckers 1 or 2 doesn’t matter really, I’d say 1 as a bit cheaper and still looks great ..

Hulk will certainly give a splash of colour, the case needs to be worn to see if the fit is good ..
Plenty Datejust to give a splash of colour if that’s your bag ..

Good for you, .. you get a sticker ..

Sure OP just looking for ideas and opinions, kinda point to a forum, think it’s refreshing to see someone wanting to know others ideas and opinions without challenge or denigration, Twitter or Reddit best place for that, with so many different Rolex models, names, colour schemes can be quite a trawl, I too can make my mind up - but I love to hear other peoples opinions in a world where seems opinions are tempered to one way of thinking ..

Ok, point taken. I guess I'm just sick of reading "Should I do this, or should I do that ? " threads. I'm only new to the forum, what would I know. I'll retract my statement.

No you don’t need to, if you’re sick of reading them why click on them ?
You are entitled to your opinion same as me, I’m not criticising you trust me .. but I suppose too I’m sick of snarky comments when all someone wants is some help that’s all .. new to the forum has nothing to do with it, you’re welcome same as me, ..
I’m sick of ‘is it safe to wear’ threads, so I don’t bother anymore, but that’s just me ..

If you need to flip to make it happen, then, yes, I would definitely flip a BLNR to a GRNR. That TT GMT is gorgeous.

Without knowing your financial situation I would add as opposed to trading. If money is an issue then a trade would be the way. You can circle back around on a BLNR at any time should you want. The other thing with having two watches as opposed to one is you cut down on wrist time and for me enjoyment. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

I have seen the TT in person. I would not do that trade. I like the TT but not sold on the bright gold numbers on the bezel. It’s a lot to me, but maybe it is right for you. I think the BLNR is the best Rolex and had many of them. I let it go once. Speaking from experience that was a huge mistake.

I would keep what you have and add. All the options you've listed are solid options. Take your time and when you're more sure of the direction you're taking, pull the trigger.

I definitely would not bother doing that swap. At the moment GRNR is in but in time the blnr will be the more desirable, interesting piece imo.

Soon BLNR will be 14 years old so potentially discounted who knows but I find the blue black so much more appealing especially as the blue is sooooo good …

Honestly you have the perfect GMT... GRNR literally does nothing for me. The steel one is just bland, the two-tone IMO is gaudy and reminds me of the Rolex wearers of the 90s...

I'd recommend looking at a Hulk / 126610LV for a splash of color or a DJ if you want to go classic.

Trading a BLNR for a GRNR is like going from a Porterhouse to a skirt steak. Sure it's different but it's also lesser in every which way

You’ll sell the BLNR if you go bimetal IMO. Love this watch, any desire for a steel GMT has left since I acquired the 126713 GRNR.

They are so wildly different I believe if you try the GRNR on you will know right away which one you prefer. Just tune out the noise.

Unpopular opinion. I would always take some gold over steel. However long term the batgirl is prob safer. All depends what matters to you. The two tone GMT is a stunner.

Thanks for all the replies so far! I am still leaning towards keeping the BLNR now, if I was to add a second am really considering the hulk/ Starbucks…
