Consider yourself lucky. I have been after the 321 ED White for more than three years.

This watch is highly sought after and among the best in Omega line up. However, secondary market value has witnessed a retreat so don't expect any gains here.

I have been in the list for one of these. It is the ultimate Omega.

Beautiful watch. "Worth the money" is a concept that means widely varied things from person to person.

This is probably the most asked question when it comes to 321.

IMHO unless you really are into the history of the 321, the space connection, and the hand assembly it’s probably not.

This coming from an owner and huge fan of the 321.

If you haven’t already read these two threads, they are worth investigating…

To echo what brandrea stated, if you don't care for the history of the movement, then it's definitely not worth it as your standard fare 1861/3861 is an amazing watch for half the price. The latter is also easier to service, more durable, and more accurate.

Also make sure you try it on and compare to the standard 3861 - they wear differently due to case size and lug shape.

Btw OP, I did not mean to dissuade you. The 321 is probably my favourite watch and this coming from a guy who never owned a Speedmaster till this one.

It’s highly legible, and the winding of the movement is like butter. The pusher operation is precise and has a beautiful tactile feel.

I don’t care much about accuracy (everyone here knows that ) but I don’t notice a real world difference from any of my Rolex in that department.

What I love most about the 321 is the feeling I get when I’m wearing it. It just feels more special than my other watches

It’s an old soul in a modern package.

If you're a watch nerd like some of us here, yes... worth the money!

If you just like the look and feel of a Speedy without the historical accuracy, then no!

GET THE WATCH!!

I think this is a key point. Why would a Rolex 100% person purchase an Omega? Not trying to be a smartypants here, just wondering if and why you're thinking about it.

For the record, it's a special watch and I love it.

Because it’s an icon, I also own a Patek 5711.

The black dial 3861 may not satiate your appetite for your one and only Speedy, especially if you have your sights on the 321.

Speaking from personal experience, I didn’t think I would get a 321, which is what I really wanted, so I bought the black dial 3861. It is a nice watch and one I enjoyed. However, soon thereafter, I realized I still wanted the 321. So in true TRF fashion, I ended up getting a 321. It has lived up to the high expectations I had of it. I have since sold the 3861.

Point is, if you really want the 321, don’t settle for something else (e.g., the 3861). It will end up costing you more money in the long run when you eventually buy what you really want.

Pretty much exactly the same for me. Bought the 3861 but couldn't stop thinking about the 321. Not long after I bought the 321 and sold the 3861.

I think it really just comes down to how much you like Omega and the Speedmaster. My first mechanical watch was a Speedmaster some 20+ years ago and I have loved them ever since. There aren't many watches I would say I'd keep forever but this is probably one of them.

Bought the sapphire sandwich in 2008.

Not sure I would spring for the EW’s Aus $30k.

To some of the world, it's just another Speedmaster in a world full of them. To the rest, it's just a watch. I personally enjoy "quiet luxury" items. Those who know, know.

I admire the watch from afar but will not spend the money for it. So many Speedmasters to be had for a fraction of the money and most of the cool.

I passed on it when offered last week. Super cool, just can't afford it right now. If you think it's super cool after seeing it and you can afford it, go for it.

Can I ask which Boutique offered it to you?

I see you are from Brooklyn. I visit the east coast occasionally, it would be nice to know where to go.

They asked me to keep that private as they want local customers or organic visits. I’m sure it’s sold by now anyway.
