Vintage Navitimer Chronology: A must read collectors guide for Navitimer hunters
For those interested in adding vintage Navitimers to your collection, here's must read research on Vintage Navitimers by a respected Navitimer researcher/collector, Kurt Broendum, who also published his research in the British Horological Society Journal some months ago, enjoy!
http://www.watchlife.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=144 and copy of the British Horological Society Journal research paper here http://kurt-b.com/publication-of-my-...ogical-journal And whist we are at it, do post pictures of your vintage Navitimers! Here's my only vintage Navitimer, a 1955 pre 806 Valjoux 72 AOPA Navitimer, made for about 1 year in 54-55 with the Valjoux 72 for http://www.aopa.org/ and that lead to the Navitimer line being a great Pilots favourite. This first series is also called the Broendum Breitling, for Kurts research on Navitimers!

Nice read. I will contribute with a picture of the the actual navitimer cosmonaute worn by Scott Carpenter aboard the Aurora 7 in 1962.

My 1965 Ref 809 Navitimer Cosmonaut purchased that year after obtaining my private pilot certificate and joining AOPA. Sadly, I sold it in 2011 because it was no longer in my rotation. It was a dumb move.

1959 Navitimer original
This is my Navitimer, serial number dates to very early 1959, Good to see Breitling recognising this iconic watch with the ‘59 re edition. Keeps excellent time and has a beautifully patinated dial with clear inscriptions and a clean case.

Such beautiful watches, sometimes makes me regret what some of the Breitling watches have become now. I miss the old logo and the watches staying somewhat truthful to their purposes. Vintage breitlings, I find, are more attractive and collectable than most mondern ones on offer, with some exceptions of course.
