Skydweller dial: white or black

Can’t seem to decide. My very small collection is already heavy on blue dials and I’m not a green person.
Which do you prefer?

white. it's more of a matte cream color and works really well on the sky dweller. black feels too muted for that watch

It depends on your wrist size.
7” or less = Black.
7”+, then White.

I might be showing my age here, but how is your reading eyesight, or how close to 40-50 are you?

The white one is quite hard to read with the minimal contrast of the hands, the white lume and the polished silver, depending on the angle of light.

A consideration that wasn’t on my radar in 2014 when I got my 116520 white dial that I can sadly no longer tell the time on!

Black without hesitation. The dial is great with the subtle sunburst finishing. It also helps tone down the overall size of the watch.

The black is my favorite of all the Sky-Dwellers.

Agreed. Black looks good in all lights and angles and very masculine, decisive, and crisp. I like the white too, and was my second choice, but wish the white was a true white. Black jubilee is the way.

I like the blue and green also, but had my choice and went black.

Both colors are amazing. The black is so classic Rolex and very handsome. The white is very smooth and reductive since the indices melt away into the dial. Correct answer is BOTH. i have a blue.

Both are amazing… though i would recommend to try both and pick the one that suits you best.
For instance white looks wrong on my pale skin… although the watch itself looks great.
I am after a blue one myself :)

Which do you prefer?
Which is more important which one do you yourself prefer that's the only opinion that matters.

Couldn't go wrong with either, but I would prefer to look down and see the black dial for sure on that jubilee.

Both Beautiful dials...

Personally went with white...has a lovely white egg shell/matte type of shine to it...but as someone noted better to try both on and see what suits your wrist...don't think you can go wrong with either....

Both. Sorry, not helpful.

My collection somehow ended up with a lot of blue dials. I didn't have a black dial Rolex and I was hopelessly in love with the Sky Dweller so the choice was obvious.

What I particularly liked was the variation in the reflectivity of the black dial. It can be flat black, metallic grey or flat grey but when the light hits it just right it bursts into a shimmering display. I think the Oyster bracelet suits the black dial better than the Jubilee but each to our own.

The one downside of the black dial (for me) is the lack of contrast between the 24h disk and the dial when it's in its resting black state. It can make the 24h reading hard to pick out without a good look. Having said that, my eyesight isn't getting any better so it's not really the Sky Dweller's fault.

I think the white dial goes better with YG and RG. The hands and indices have a nice punchy contrast with the white dial in a way that WG hands and indices don't. Not that WG is poorly legible against white, it's just a personal taste thing. Having got my black one I started lusting after the TT white dial. I had decided that I would start sniffing around, when my AD presented me with the chance to buy a new one.

The contrast between the 24h disk and dial makes the 24h reading easy to pick out - for me and my eyes. The white dial is amazing. It can be flat white, bright white, cream and light grey depending on how the light hits it. The paint has metal particles mixed in and the dial can burst into a glittering firework display when the incident light allows it.

To me it looks good on Oyster but better on Jubilee.

I had mine put on Jubilee. The Oyster is very comfortable but the Jubilee is more comfortable still. To my eyes the Jubilee suits the white SS better.

Hand on heart, Blue SS on Jubilee is my favourite.

As Peter points out, at the end of the day it's what you prefer that counts, but any excuse to admire Sky Dwellers is good enough to get me going on the subject. I'm a bit biased (you may have noticed).

Black oyster looks great!
Blue on jubilee is perfection though…

For variety (plus it was what my AD offered) I went white. It is a beautiful piece. I am very happy with the white face on a jubilee bracelet.
