14060M Condition? Please help :)
First time poster, long time lurker here. live close to a second hand good store that's selling a 14060M and a 16710. I've been hemming and hawing back and forth between both and was about to pull the trigger on the 16710 but then it got sold last week. the 14060M though is also nice and I think i'd be just as happy w/ it as i was the GMT II.
My pictures arent the best, but is there anything here that doesn't look right, as far as polishing and condition? It comes with boxes and papers, which I didnt take a picture of. Shop is asking $6600 for it. |

Good looking 2004 model w nice sharp casing too. My guess it looks to “possibly” be unpolished to lightly polished. W B&P anywhere closer to lower 6k range OTD would be my target price. Assuming it does not need a service.

Looks to be in very good condition, as far as I can tell based on pictures.
What do you know about the seller? Any indication of service history? |

I'm currently living in Japan for the rest of the year and the seller is brick and mortar 2nd hand luxury goods store that's been here for at least the last 10+ years. i've had co-workers' wives who have purchase brand bags from them that have all been legit, but never watches. They do alot of online sales too through rakuten and yahoo auctions (popular auction websites in japan). |

Sorry MY ERROR its surely 2003 to April 2005. I never heard of lug holes after mid 2002. My understanding they were stopped after "Y" serial numbers. Once again my apologies Adam

You're obviously very confused. The 16610 sub date went to a no-holes case during late y-serial number but the 14060 no-date had lug holes right up until the end of production.

Looks good for a 14 year old watch. The price is a little high but I am sure the seller built in a little negotiating room. Go get it before it goes the way of the GMT. Good luck.

There is only one thing that bothers me and that is the visible spring bar I the top lug. It doesn't match the bottom lug. The watch looks crisp but I really question whether or not it's been polished. Maybe polished by someone who did a good job.

I see what your referring to, I think its the lighting or position of view rather then polish, because the angle of view could be what your seeing. You can see a recess on the right spring bar, I think this recess is enough were it could shadow that interpretation.

Yes, it has been refinished - 14060M do not come with deep chamfers and the grain is slightly rougher than an original grain, but somebody has done a nice job of it.

I agree with Tools, it looks like it was very well refinished/polished, which (IMHO) is to be expected of a watch of that age. Price it as if it needs a service, or whatever you are comfortable with. I think you'll like it.

Larry I see what your saying there, yea the chamfers do look more freshly manufactured then factory. Looks like a light polished but still a pretty clean example. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

2 line sub went to Z serial 2006 with lugholes and replaced by 4 line sub until random numbers began.
Aluminum bezel ran concurrent with ceramic versions in early random production.

Not to nit pick but I believe z-series 2 lines leaked into 2007. Here's mine. To me the 14060m 2 liners are just the perfect 'classic' Rolex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
