Tudor is so damn tempting...

Was at AD this morning and the Pelagos 39 looks amazing!

I'm on wait for a no-date Submariner but I'm tempted to forego the wait and get the Pelagos.

Am I just a prisoner of the moment?

P39 is a valid alternative. It will wear more like a 5 digit sub, and you have T-Fit.

It’s also roughly a third of the price of a submariner.

Lumed bezel is also a plus.

It won’t stop the desire for the Sub so I would wait.

for sure not. already sold my pelagos 42 prior to get the sd 43 and i know not same category but all the tudors are so below rolex and my omega and breitlings. dont care what the specs say they feel cheap in comparison to the brands I mentioned. Great lume on the pelagos though. if had done it again id have just skipped it as i liked it but wasn't in love with it and like many wannabe rolex buyers in back of mind thought it would scratch the itch for sub or sd 43

Subs are pouring right now. Wait time is like 1-3 months. If you are not getting it from your AD, register interest with a few others and you will get it soon.

I want to like Tudor, but it really feels like a toy watch compared to Sub.

I totally disagree with this sentiment, but to each their own.

I bought the Pelagos 39 when my 124060 was getting serviced. Now I hardly ever wear the Sub. The pelagos is more of a tool watch and the sub feels like jewelry to me now.

That’s exactly my thoughts now with regard to my Rolex & Tudor watches.

You would have to get them both to truly determine.

As somebdoy mentioned, the Tudor is a vintage Sub with modern day tech. Having purchased two Tudors - a Tudor GMT and the BB 54, you will not regret the Tudor.

This is the golden age of Tudor. The watches will continue to increase in price like Rolex. Better buy it now.

Amen to this comment.

Been thinking along these lines for quite some time.

Especially if Tudor continue their boutiques roll-out and start withdrawing them from the multiple high street jewellers they currently occupy.

Even better buy like new and save a fortune. Used prices have fallen for tudors, a few greys I've spoken to won't take them now as they're not moving.

Went ahead and bought the new Tudor BB 41 pending an allocation of a Sub Date.

Really love it.

As a former sub owner I would consider a Tudor Monochrome and Pink Chrono before a used 14060 Sub. Matter of fact, If Tudor ever drops a BB58 GMT Pepsi on a Jubilee with Opaline Dial, I would take that over Rolex version just for the peace of mind.

Any good overview of the Tudor watch line? I look at the web site and just get confused. What the heck if the difference between a 58 and a 54? So many questions. Considering the Pelagos as a beater type watch.

Pelagos line = "What if Rolex made a Sub/Sea-Dweller for the first time now with all the tech available?"

Among them: Pelagos = Sea-Dweller, Pelagos 39 = Sub, Pelagos FXD = MilSub

Black Bay line = "4 digit Rolex/Tudor with modern manufacturing"

Among them: Heritage Black Bay = 41mm Sub, Black Bay 58 = 40mm Sub, Black Bay 54 = 37mm Sub, Black Bay P-01 (discontinued) = prototype US Navy Sub, Black Bay 31/36/39/41 = Oyster Perpetual

Black Bay GMT = GMT-Master, Black Bay Pro = Explorer II

Excellent summary.

Agree wholeheartedly with this, especially the Pelagos line. I own the P39, FXD, BB54, 14060, and have owned a BB58, 114060 and 124060.

Everytime I wear the P39 I think, this is what a modern sub would look like if Rolex strayed more from their typical design evolution.

Love my 42mm blue Pelagos. So does my doctor per his comments on it during yesterday's annual physical.

If you really want a Sub and can't swing both or the P39 as only a temporary, don't do it. It won't cure you of the desire for a Sub.

But....Tudor is putting out some amazing watches for the money. Really impressed with all I've had from them and the value they offer.

I currently have a BB58 blue, FXD black, and Sub Date 126610. The Sub is definitely a step up....it's little things though...the way the inside of the clasp fits and is all smooth compared to some sharp bits on the BB58 clasp for example. Or the subtle difference in sheen of the white gold hands/markers.

But I love Tudors for what they offer and while they have some previous gen Rolex DNA to them (chamfer cases!) they have their own vibe and don't feel like they're trying to be a cheaper Rolex anymore, at least to me.

I'm probably going to move my BB58 on now that I have the Sub Date and FXD. But I love my FXD and it gets a lot of wrist time next to my Sub.

I'm surprisingly tempted by the new BB41 monochrome with the 5 link bracelet. Really feels like they've achieved an ideal version of the Black Bay with this watch and I think it looks great.

That is a tough decision. I'd say go for the Tudor Pelagos if you value more of a tool watch/retro theme. If you want something flashy then go for the Sub. Both the Pelagos and Sub are 100% outstanding watches and there will be no wrong choice no matter which you decide.
