David SW BLNR Relaunch

As many have noticed, all of the greys pulled all of their BLNR stock following Baselworld launch and disco of the old BLNR. David SW just relaunched a BLNR on his site for near 15K. Do you think these prices hold?

I don’t care. It’s his business what he charges. I’m not sure why everyone is so obsessed with this guy.

I suspect some dealers use others for posting for them.

In my opinion he is one of the key market makers for Rolex in the secondary market. With the level of respect he gets in running a sound business and volume of watches he moves, it is respect well earned.

Scary stuff when one independent dealer can dictate the entire market. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

There are literally thousands of dealers and jewelers selling preowned Rolex. He is a very small cog on the wheel of preowned Rolex.

That’s where you are wrong. Yes he is one of thousands but very few come close to his level of service and quality of his pieces.

Not saying this at all. I think David is a great indicator of the global Rolex secondary market as his prices are typically in line due to the volume he moves. This is not in anyway saying that he dictates the market. In fact a few of his offerings aren't in line with the market at all.
Example: NIB Kermit (non flat four) that he has over 20K. Totally ridiculous

Understood I am just saying he is an indicator based on his volume...as well as a great dealer. Chrono 24 is also an indicator of the market despite not being as revered as David.

I am not saying that he is the biggest seller on the market for example Chrono24 or Ebay sells more watches than David SW I just think he is a good indicator of where the market falls. The amount of volume he moves compared to the number of postings he has should say something about his prices in relation to the market. I don't care how good your customer service is in a commodity market like Rolex, if your prices are way out of line your product isn't going to move.

Agree OP. Also, I respect him for not asking 20K which he certainly could have and sold it for that price.

Many? Define way bigger? Do you know how many watches DSW sells a month? a year? Do you know how many these way bigger players sell? Do you know this for a fact? Who are these way bigger market makers?? Not saying you're wrong, just curious. I follow several business markets fairly closely, watches being one of them and I know more than a few people in the business.

FYI I have never done business with David but have met him and hung out with him on more than one occasion. Great guy and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him.

David is excellent

Another post for David being an excellent dealer. I’ve bought 2 watches from him and to be honest I’m seriously considering flipping my BLNR. I love the watch but trying to be realistic about it. 13-15k for a used BLNR is pretty insane. Could definitely upgrade...

My dream is to have a sub, gmt, and DaytonaC...that Daytona is a frickin unicorn though...

How the hell is this constructive? “Hey, a guy who sells used watches raised prices.”

No one is obsessed.... but he is one of the trusted sellers here based on his track record.

I can understand ur confusion because u have been here less than two months..

Op: we have seen this kind of price setting before.
The gray dealers are only testing the market price.
It may go down or it may go up later to reflect the latest market conditions

X2000. I'd renew the call for a valuation discussion subforum but it went over like a lead balloon last time (and every time).

The technical subforum has some interesting topics from time to time!

Cheers
