New offer from AD

Hi All.
Just got an offer from AD. Discount dial. 36mm blue motif with smooth bezel, jubilee. Still undecided if I should put the trigger.

If you wanted it you wouldn’t be undecided.

First, welcome to the forum!
Only you can decide if you want it. I'm pretty sure I know what I'd do. Beautiful watch.

OP is not undecided if he/she "wants" it. Only undecided whether to actually get it. Big difference. Generally speaking, everyone want a fancy, luxury car or a huge house, want is not the issue.

I do want it but not my number one choice. I prefer the fluted bezel.

Have you and the AD had a sit down to discuss just what it is that you want? I say this because my AD has a list of the watches I would like to add to my collection...plus each time I go in I discuss the for display only ones and identify one or more that I would like that perhaps isn't on my list. For example, 36 mm is too small for me. 38 and up only. I already have some so I don't want to duplicate. Unless it is a new movement ie from a 3185 to a 3285 in the GMT Master II. Open lines of communication are essential for a good experience, plus over time I have made another good friend. Just what is a discount dial from a AD.

Exactly this. my AD, including the SA and general manager are aware of the watches I would like to own. They are also aware that I can only buy perhaps two a year. I make it clear that I need time to budget for each one. This way, no one is disappointed when I do get the call. If you are open and honest about your goals, your AD is much more likely to accommodate you, on your schedule.

I meant discount dial from Rolex, the blue motif dial.
And yes, I did mentioned to the AD the 41mm datejust that i purchased from them, it doesn’t sit right on my wrist. And it is a dial that I like but I don’t like the bezel.

The blue motif dial is special. It’s an offer that won’t be repeated given its discontinuance. If you are in a position to buy the watch, I would do.

IMHO, this (smooth bezel, oyster) is the best combo for the motif dials, because the dial gets to be the star of the show, with fluted/jubilee being too busy for me when combined with the motif.

I agree with this. That dial, in any color, is too busy, when paired with Jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. I’d buy that watch, if I were you.

More accurately, Blue Fluted dial. Not sure why people call the Fluted dial "motif" dial. Technically the jubilee, celebration, palm and many other dials are "motif" dials.

If you’re asking whether it’s worth buying to flip, then the answer’s probably’no’.

Though choice, I was offered one as a walk in back in January and took it. Made it a little easier for me that mine was fluted bezel on a jubilee (my personal preference for DJ36) the dial is stunning and has got the most wrist time for me so far this year

That will be my number one choice. The one that was offer to me is with a smooth bezel. I never have a smooth bezel before, so I am worried that I may not get use it.

The only one thing that is missing the fluted bezel. Never have a smooth bezel DJ before. Concerned I won’t be able to get use to it.
