Agreed....but at least it's a genuine Timex. I'd still rather wear that one over a fake SD!!

On a side note, I've been looking at Alpha watches for a beater watch, they seem too good to be true!

Well myself don't regard any watch as a beater, they all have there place. But can recommend the Newman Alpha, a remarkable quality watch for very little money. You can check out this review on the Alpha Chrono.

A classic design and I dont think Timex makes any claims about something that it is not.....

Long history in Timex and a fine watch for what it does...tell time

I don't think it's so bad...and like someone else said, better than a fake SD. My first watch was a Timex and I built a company around them...no bad mouthing here and I'm sure for $45 it keeps good time.

It Timex has no shame, then Rolex should be disgusted with themselves since they ripped off the Sub look from Blancpain.

Sorry guys, but if I saw somebody wearing this I would have to chuckle. It's obvious they're trying to sell a watch that looks like a Rolex - and it's definitely NOT.

Yeah, but if I saw someone wearing this:

I have to chuckle because Rolex is trying to sell a watch that looks like a Blancpain and it's definitely not:

There are only so many good designed in the horological world. I don't think Timex (or anyone else) is trying to sell their 'hommage' as the original, just using a tried design that works. I'm betting most buyers of that Timex wouldn't know a Rolex if they sat on one.

I agree with atomic, I don't think people who buy/wear this knows even what a SD is, so its not like Timex is trying to appeal to those who rocks their folex, its a sports watch that you probably shouldn't go swimming with (50WR) yet most people needs not to worry about as its less than 50 bucks.

The way I see it, its just another watch with 3 hands and a clean dial, I wouldn't spend money to go get one, but I wouldn't mind wearing one if I ever come across one.

Sorry Blancpain, but you've been caught sleeping . Rolex took your basic design, mastered it, and turned it into a global icon . Does Timex think it can do the same with Rolex ? I don't think so . Let the flaming begin!

You're bang on the money Jeff. BP was asleep at the switch when Rolex took a revolutionary design and made it their own.

No flaming. Just bad busienss planning (and bad legal advice) on BP's part.

Rolex is a master of taking other people's inventions and making them their own - I mean that in a positive way in that Rolex is good at marketing things and making them successful. They have many "firsts" in terms of making things widely available, even if they didn't actually invent that particular item.

On the topic of the OP, I would rather see someone wear this Timex than a fake Rolex. My choice would be the BP FF if I was getting a dive watch.

If I saw someone in a $1,200.00 dollar suit, and in $600.00 shoes, and a nice plain timex on their wrist. I would raise an eyebrow, but it would probably make me smile.

Most US president wears a Timex when they are presidents.

I have seen Clinton wearing a Panerai a few times, but when he was president, he wore a timex.

How about clothes that look like thrift shop rejects and a real SS Daytona on the wrist?
