What are the things that fascinate you most about a Rolex?
Hi guys,
Okay, some fun time!! Sure, we all love our Rollies....I know I do!! But there's got to be some feature about it, some aspect, anything that really turns you on!! So which feature gets you the most? I voted for the dial....they never cease to amaze me. Vote with comments please! Thanks - JJ

My bezel. It's black and red gives some "color" to my watch and works to monitor second and third time zone...

If I had to choose one it would be the cyclops. It's an iconic feature. The GMT bezel would be a close second.

JJ, I don't see a feature for me--or maybe all of them.
I like the fact that the design is "timeless". A 30 year old Rolex bears a striking resemblance to it's modern sibling. (Excluding some of the blingly offerings of late.) Sure there have been changes to dials, bracelets, movements etc... but Rolex has stuck to it's guns over the years. That coupled with the ability of the brand to function in most any condition I'm apt to expose a watch to, and the great history of the marquis has made it my watch of choice for many many years. |

Well what I fascinate/admire in Rolex today is not anything cosmetic, but what I admire most is the Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, and the real true Rolex history behind this great business man. What he has done to make Rolex today the most recognised brand in the world. And although in reality Rolex did not invent everything, related to watches in this world today. What they did invent was sheer marketing brilliance, and a good well respected product, and thats what myself personally admire most today the Rolex brand the history.

Ultimately its the entire package -- one cannot separate the bezel from the dial, etc.
Given the choice, I voted for the dial, because so many of the rolex models have dials that are well designed, relatively simple and timeless. I really like the crisp white dial of my EXP II. I also like the dial of the SS/PL yachtmaster. Some of the jeweled Rolex models are obviously the exception to this. |

Not listed - but I am amazed by the weight of the watch. You know you are wearing a watch when you wear a rolex!!
But I will vote for the Bezel because I love the gold bling!! |

The thing that fascinates me most is the company and history of Rolex.
As far as the appearance of a Rolex, I voted for the dial, but the entire watch is a work of art.

Unless there is a cyclops eye on the crystal, I forgo anymore effort into identifying the watch make.

I chose the dial for my TT Sub. There's something about gold printing on a black dial that does it for me, even though some colourblind members here have gold on blue.
Nancy chose the dial for her Cellini, and the bracelet for her vintage.

Sorry JJ, I didn't vote as no one category does it for me.
It's the overall history, overall look, horological achievements and toughness that does it for me. What a great history Rolex has had, AND one of a few watch manufacturers that have not been absorbed or sold off during hard times, and still at the forefront of watch-making. John. |

For me it is the charitable aspect of the Rolex foundation.

You forgot one category, the one that interest me the most the Case itself and the Case Back. Rolex is very unique in the case and the way the movement is stored inside the case. Also the special tool that is used to open the case. And the 904 steel that is used.
