Breitling: how tough?

i have been hesitant to test my Breit Automatic....

as in, take it on a brick (run 1 hr, ride 1hr, offroad or on) or even running with me.


need some ideas from you learned souls. can a breitling stand up to a triathlon? to a ride or run? off road?

it's on a strap btw.


(ever since I got it, my TAG Aquaracer (quartz) has blasted though all of thee above, plus world travel, diving, and 10 years of emergency services work. so i know many high end (quartz) watches can take the punishment, but...)

I'm sure the movement can take it, but sweating with a leather strap isn't comfy. If it's on a rubber strap go for it.

I have a Panerai on a rubber strap for sport type activities and can't really say that I like that one either when sweating.

Bought my Son a Colt auto for his high school graduation 6 years ago. He soon left for college. He has traveled through 30 something states, and a few countries. He has rode his bike through a few states, swims, runs 5 K's, and a few triathlons with that thing. Most recently at the beach and of course the ocean. He has absolutely tortured that poor watch. Well, the bracelet is well scratched, the crystal is pristine. The bezel still operates wonderfully. The time keeping has not deviated at all in the 6 years of torture.

while I'm sure it can take it, I hate doing movemnets like that with a automatic watch IMHO, why take the chance, especially the running/bouncing part.

As a father it makes me so happy to see him use his watch for it's intended purpose. That's what life is all about, using the good china as they say.

So far the watch as not deviated one second from when it was purchased. But yes it is well worn.

It depends on the model. If you watoh is from the Aeromarine line you'll be fine.

its been hanging out on my wrist through some workouts now, but i am still too skittish to take it out for a run or a ride, let alone a swim.

my trust TAG Aquaracer is up to the task. Breit might be as well, but...

Not a 100% on which model Breitling, but the sport models should be able to handle it, if not then I wouldn't even buy it. My Omega PO has done everything with me, run, swim, road march, parachuting from both helo and fixed wing, rock climb, shooting....etc.
It's even deployed to Iraq for two summers.
In all that time, almost four years, I just had to have the timing regulated since it ran a little slow, and the red tipped seconds hand isn't really red anymore. Still going strong, no problems, I love it.
Buy it and use it, good luck.

because I need my watches through all activities, I just bought a Colt Quartz..should be good for everything...thoguh I am sure 100% that he Colt Auto is just as good for all of what a normal human being can do, and much much more
