That is that TC Toscana strap that is/was waterproof. I got it in a really light natural tan and hated the color. About twenty coats of baseball glove oil and some sandpaper and VIOLA, I have a distressed vintage strap, I love it.

My first-ever "perefect vintage purchase", a 25-year-old watch in pristine condition at a great price, and requires no service. I only had to buy 4 other vintage watches before I finally got here! LOLOLOL

Naturally, this is what I've got on right now (surprise, surprise )

But tonight, we'g going out to dinner with friends, so it will either be this:

or this

Tomorrow morning is our day for exercise. We walk for an hour with friends. So it will likely be this on my wrist.

beautiful Rock I am wearing the same thing only in Red/blk. I am still undecided which bezel colour I want to use next. Thinking of trying the Pepsi for xmas time and then when I go on a trip I will slap on the black to be a bit more low key.

I understand your dilemna, Roger. I don't have that problem. I am a one bezel kind of guy. IMHO black is beautiful. The others just pale by comparison.

Roger,

It is a beautiful day here in the Toronto area, I took a nice drive to Grimsby (nice little town not too far from where I live) and had a look at some nice used Rolexes... sadly I only had my Speedmaster Professional to wear also know as the MOON WATCH
I think we should post more pics like the one above as it is important to get a females perspective on a male dominated field ;)

That's a beauty Bruce. Is that a moonwatch? Someone I used to work next to had a moonwatch on a SS bracelet. I liked it. It has history to it.

Yeah the Speedy Pro Moon watch. Used to have two of them, but I got tired of them and hardly ever wore 'em. That's another one I may pick up again someday. You can find them pretty cheap if you look around the used forums.

Last time I checked I think they were going for around $1000. used. That was last year.

The Moon Watch has a long history and is pretty unique as being the watch certified by NASA for all space missions and worn by Neil Armstrong when he walked on the Moon. There are many movie references and even a nice coffee table book about it's history. The inscription on the back states:

Flight qualified by Nasa for all manned space missions
The first watch worn on the Moon

It's funny I never noticed before I bought mine that in the movie Apollo 13 the astronauts were using the Omega Speedy Pro to time their re-entry. $1000 is a good price I think they go a little higher than that, of course if you look hard enough anything is possible!

Wasn't the Rolex GMT the first, or one of the first, watches into space on the wrist of one of the Gemini astronauts? What is so interesting about the Speedy, to me, is that Omega did nothing to their stock watch for NASA. NASA bought the first one for test out of a Houston jewelers. Then I think some US companies raised hell over NASA using a Swiss product, so NASA held a competition.

Several companies worked to build a watch to NASA's specifications but they all failed. The Speedy passed every test as a stock watch. That's impressive in anyone's book

Very impressive. I believe the Hesalite crystal had alot ot do with it because if the fact that it would shatter but stay together and not break apart like plastic or sapphire.

I forget all the tests that were run, but there was temperature, pressure, etc. Jean Michael's Speedy site probably has the details. Those heselite crystals are fantastic and they polish up easily. And the watches are tough as nails. I dropped both of my Speedys, pretty hard, and it didn't phase them!
