Getting my Rolex fixed? (AUSTRALIA)

Hey there TRF!

Just wondering about a few things.

How much will it cost? I need a bezel, a pin in the bracelet fixed and I need the movement fixed - she's not ticking :/.

Is RSC the only place to get it fixed?
How do I go about postage? etc

P.S. It's a Submariner 1680 - what else do I have to do to make sure they don't ruin the value?

Make sure they don't refinish the dial and change the crystal to the service crystal. I'm not sure how Australian RSC treats vintage watches though. Ask your AD to ask them whether this is possible or not first before sending it in.

thanks. it looks fine in the pic. it doesnt look as if it needs any cosmetic work done.

I do need a bezel - that one is unfortunately fake... I know! Blasphemy! But I wasn't going to send it to the RSC for 800+ just for a bezel back when she was still ticking.

Now, I know it is very hard to say what this will cost me, but if I were to just get a bezel (and the bezel insert) and fix the mechanism, how much would it cost roughly?

Sure he would. I know he's not cheap, but he is the go to go for a lot of sellers in Adelaide for some of the trickier jobs.

well in canadian $$ it would be.....85$ for the bezel but with a luminova pearl dot.195 is the crystal but yours is the older acrylic so i think its cheaper lets say 150$ and the service would be 500$ + parts needed..so 500+85+150+lets say 100$ for the parts(just guessing). With shipping and taxes and everything I would say 1000$ -1100

well it all depends if you actually need movement parts, if you do, your stuck, rolex no longer supply movement parts to watchmakers in australia, only a case kit, some have parts left from when they could order and others may source overseas if they can. I would get an assessment at one of the watchmakers provided above see what you need parts wise first.

G'day mate. Okay, that's the extent of my Aussie speak (love visiting down under BTW). But here's my thing: for a classic four digit Sub I would be concerned that a RSC would change out irreplaceable bits - not good. If you could find a guy or gal down under with a Rolex parts account and a good rep, I'd be sorely tempted to go that way just to preserve originality. Plus they might both be less spendy, quicker, as well as reachable easily. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Try Michael Woods in Colac vic he’s got a great reputation and would be better suited than sending it to the RSC

With all that said, old post and all.....

you would think that the best place to take your Rolex watch would be a Rolex service centre, regardless of location.
You would think the technicians in said service centres would be able to know what's best for your watch as well as retaining as much of it's value as possible.(or give you the option of what do do before they start tearing it apart)
It is sad to hear of people who want to get their pride and joy serviced, but have to worry like hell at what the said service technicians may do to it.
Will the service centres do whatever is necessary to get your timepiece back up to spec without worry of any sentimental value or history they may be stripping away ?

I guess it's the same with everything...cars, motorcycles, boats,etc........
