Something looks wrong with this cyclops

I’m thinking of purchasing this Explorer II Polar from a friend, however the cyclops lens does not appear to be magnified correctly. Does it look funny to you guys or is it just me?

I can't tell from that angle.
Can you take a more direct shot?

Doesn't look good to me. If I wound up with that watch I would want a crystal swap.

Yes that does look way too small. There were issues with under magnification of the cyclops, but not with any of the 5 digit models if I recall correctly.

That does not look correct, my DJ/BLNR looks much different, even at that angle.

Aftermarket crystal (IMO), overly polished lugs, and lots of grime on the end links. I wouldn't want it.

Looks like an aftermarket crystal at the very least

So Cute Of course the Cyclops magnification is underpowered but that's only the tip of the Iceberg!

This means only one thing : A non-Rolex " Bubble Wart " has been used on this watch. So you start asking the question : Why was a non Rolex cyclops magnifier used ? The answer is because the previous owner wasn't exactly thrilled about having the cyclops on board and had it removed for a cleaner look.
So when the time came to flip the watch, he ordered an aftermarket cyclops and had it glued back onto the crystal.
What you don't realize is that it isn't as simple as it sounds. If you send the watch to the RSC for a new cyclops reinstallation, don't swear and use the F word if they tell you the whole sapphire crystal needs be replaced too

I’d guess an aftermarket crystal replacement. I wouldn’t consider it unless they had a recent receipt for a RSC service indicating they were the ones that replaced it, and even then I’d want a discount to replace the crystal.
Probably best to pass.

Yeah it looks pretty small. Do you know if the watch needs service? I’d just factor the new cyclops/crystal, as well as part of the service into the price of the watch.

If the price is right and you feel like doing the leg work.

It’s clearly misaligned in addition to the weak magnification. Very fugazey.

If your friend can’t provided paperworks and the history of the watch i’d PASS on the sale. I wouldn’t even wear it on my wrist look how grimy that watch is.
