**WARNING** -SOCAL- Stolen watches: DRSD mk3

well, I had my watch stolen in the greater SD area yesterday, around 11:30am.
i posted my watch, DRSD from 74(mk3, serial #:3577029) on chrono24 while back,
a potential 'buyer' requested a meeting at a local watchmaker's place of business to
examine the watch before purchasing it.

during that meeting, he requested to see the watch up close and
once he had it in his hands, he fled.

A police report has been filed. this has happened to at least one other collector,
who posted what happened on this very forum,
by the SAME Thief. He wore the exact same outfit in the other crime as well.

I can only ask for everyone to be cautious and do your due diligence
before meeting anyone for a transaction.

PLEASE be on the lookout for this fool and contact me(IG:jykiim)
if you have any details on my watch.

Thief is in mid to late 20's, early 30's at most. light skin and tattoos on the neck,
and the driver guy drives a newer black camero.

Wow @ this scum. Hate to say it but this is the kind of stuff I train for.

Sorry for your loss OP, this guy will get what's coming to him. I hope the watch somehow finds its way back to you.

You can't train for being prosecuted for assaulting someone over a property crime in this state...

mind providing more details about description of guy to be on the look out? pic is sort of blurry, is he asian or hispanic ? i can't tell frmo pics. (not to be racist - for identification purposes). crazy thing that I heard similarly of another incident in SD a few months ago, however the seller was suspicious and did not let the watch leave his hands

also, what shop was this?

Stores in US need double lock doors like in Europe. Can't be opened until let by the employee. These things seems to happen often in US. Hopefully they are able to recover your watch.

The AD near me has a uniformed officer at a double door. You have to let the first door totally close before the 2nd door unlocks. A thief could be trapped in the airlock at the press of a button. I don’t understand why anyplace that sells high end jewelry wouldn’t have similar security measures in place.

I hope the OP has success in recovering his watch. Surely someone will identify the thief.

I’m surprised this jeweler does not have double lock doors. Plenty of jewelers in the US have this, unless it is at a mall. A second door would have prevented the thief from running away as fast as he did.

It makes me wonder whose decision it was to meet at this jeweler. I think it would be a wise decision in the future that the sellers should be wary of the jeweler location to meet at, and to ensure that the location would prevent this sort of grab and run from happening.

I hope they catch him, and watch returned to OP. Be on the lookout for eBay listings as well.

I was thinking that too, most of them do have the double security door.

What he said. I dont understand how this is not standard everywhere.

Edit: also - glad you are OK and in the end it's just a watch. Take care.

The store guy in the checkerboard shirt never moves his arm from the counter.
Seems so nonchalant?? I don’t think he’s in on it...

I can’t believe this. This guy needs to go to jail and then he can show them how good he can snatch-and-run...

Sorry OP, this POS will be caught and your goods returned

This is one of the few times meeting in person will teach everyone here a lesson

What's the old guy behind the counter supposed to do? Jump over the counter Bruce Willis style and save the day? Sometimes it's better just to be a good witness. Who wants to get hurt or die for a watch? I'll wait.

So sorry. Take comfort (or pity) in the fact that this man has chosen a very dark life and will pay one way or the other for his crimes. Hope you get your watch back, soon.
