Can you really buy a 5980A + 5711R with a 5980R

That just feels...wrong on so many levels...thoughts?

I see the 5980-1R on bracelet going for like $180...that's almost as much as a 5711R and a 5980A or a 5980A + 5711A

That much for gold?

I agree it is wrong on many levels

However if we look at the MSRP of 5980A (last MSRP was around £ 35000) and MSRP of 5711R (£ 40800) it does not appear that bad as current MSRP of 5980/1R is £ 67540

There is a 5980/1R listed at £ 182700 and that is almost the MSRP of a 5270P and a 5711R. The same dealer has listed a 5204P at £ 182700 and a 5370P at £ 173565. I think that is insane.

Offer price would be 30,40K lower than asking, so not quite that much leverage but yes its all crazy all the time now.

I think the offer price would be significantly lower than that.

I've just browsed some UK greys, and luxewatches just sold 1 for 148k, so would they want to pay 110 maybe not, but would you watch 28k profit go away

Probably initially as bid prices trail ask prices terribly, but if they will actually accept 160 then I think 110/120 would be a final offer.

This bubble is going to burst and burst hard. People buying 40 or 50k watches didn’t get in that position by being stupid with their money. This is just dumb.

I am all for bubbles, but the sub-bubble of the master bubble is getting bigger than the master bubble itself! That's TOO BUBBLY!!!! It defies the physics of bubbles!

I'm curious how much of this is driven by collectors outside of the US who seem to prefer gold.

Raise your hand if you would pay 180k for a 5980r on a bracelet.

We have some of the most enthusiastic watch fans here so let see how many actually would pay that much for this watch?

At this point in time, China is the largest luxury watch goods buyer in the world.
All available statistics (check Hodinkee, etc) point to Chinese buyers being the primary driving force for high demand and increasing prices.
