Cleaning rolex date just
I got the 2019 datejust with the jubilee bracelet.
Reference 126234 How about do people go washing their watch? Just dish soap and a tooth brush under warm water? Any fear of getting scratches at all? Do I have to worry about the crown being unscrewed with the newer date just models at all? I'll always ensure that the crown is screwed but in the event I forget would like to know what consequences there are. |

Dish soap and a toothbrush for me.
The watch should be water tight, even unscrewed. But there's no reason not to be careful, and make sure. |

Some say the watch is water proof even when the crown is unscrewed but I would not trust. I'd always keep my Rolex crown tightly screwed when cleaning the watch with soup and water. Why risk it at all?

A lot of times it is because someone got out of the shower and noticed the crown was unscrewed, freaked out, and started a thread Then lots of people answered Then a few later, someone did the same thing with a jacuzzi, and started a thread... Haha |

Take it with you in the shower in the am after sleeping with it, wash it off with your shampoo or liquid shower soap to make it squeaky clean and smell fresh.

I use wristclean from Vereat. Works great. Liquid soap and toothbrush will work great too.

Hey pal,
Meticulous owner of cars and watches here. The cleaner you keep your watch the less likely you will find scratches on your watch. Rinse off under luke warm water and set your watch aside. Grab some blue dawn and make a good foam between your hands. Use your hands and fingers to go over the watch cleaning it. Use a very soft toothbrush to clean it and and rinse off. Use a hairdryer on warm and blow off some of the excess water. I do not use a cleaning cloth ever. I never wipe the watch either with anything. This will give you a showroom shine everytime. |

I don’t use any type of brush. The thought of brushing and possibly leaving micro scratches bothers me. And I always leave the crown screwed down. Leaving unscrewed might work, but the time when it doesn’t work, you’ve got a big problem. So why take chances.
I use gentle soap, warm water and my hands. Thanks. |

Don't take any chances with brushes. They may collect grit and then scratch your watch. If you insist on using a brush use a soft one and only use it immediately after taking it out of it's protective plastic. I normally use alcohol wipes, always new and always discarding immediately after use. For a more thorough wash I use the dishwasher.

Is this only when the automatic car wash is closed?
Are you serious or kidding?

Don’t use a toothbrush. Soap and warm water. Hand wash and if you have any stubborn dirt use a natural sponge. Dry with a soft towel and finish off with a microfiber towel. Then shine with an eye glass cloth. Also make sure your set of towels or whatever are exclusive for your watches. Otherwise you risk contamination. Dirt!

I had a nasty little spec hiding in a cleaning cloth once and it happily laid down a nice juicy scratch.

I apply some hand soap to the surface first and then use a toothbrush (w/e they give you on the planes) and lightly brush it with the soap under running water. After that, just rinse it off and dry with a towel.
I’ve done that for BLNR, APs and Cartier Santos and have never had any issues Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Soapy shower might not be a good place to take a watch off.

If one is concerned with micro marring etc. Simply run the toothbrush under some hot water to soften the bristles up first. And only scrub the inside of the bracelet until the bubbles migrate through to the outside. Rinse and enjoy |

Soft toothbrush, Dawn dish soap (I'd probably use any other type tbh, this is just what I use for the dishes), and pretty much any towel nearby to dry.
It should be safe with the crown unscrewed if you screw up, but try not to screw up |

What about a nice soap and water soak/cleaning, then compressed air to clean out tight spaces/dry?

I have an air compressor for my Paasche Aerograph and I use it rather than tooth bruch. By doing so there is no risk of creating air lines. Especially true with gold. Not everybody's equipment. But the use of an air dryer is a good idea as well if not too close to the watch. |
