Going to Bahamas
So I plan to go on vacation next week. I haven’t been on vacation in years and it’s generally a tradition I have to get a watch on every trip. I’m hoping they have a nicely configured date just ss or would even consider something two tone. I’m curious what the fees and duties are? In my earlier years I had no problem wearing the watch back and shipping the box. But I have become so cautious with age that I would much rather pay the customs bill. I’m assuming Il be spending around 10-12k USD ... any information is greatly appreciated

I think it’s a 3 percent duty above the $800 allowable exemption. Going to Baha Mar or Atlantis? Was just at the former for New Years, they had very little in stock.

Was just at Atlantis in December, slimmest of PM pickings but if you’re flexible and willing to buy a Hublot there are plenty to pick from

The problem will be easily avoided because there’s not much to purchase there anyway.

Going to Bahamas
It’s slim pickings, no SS there, only thing i saw was full gold SkyDweller.
Just go and have a nice holiday and forget about the watch. If you’re lucky, great. But don’t hold your breath... In the current environment, the best hope for everyone (and what Rolex wants you to do) is to go to your local AD and get it from them. Bahamas is close to Miami and many regulars fly in to pick up their hot SS models. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The John Bull in town had more of a selection than the AD at either the Atlantis or Baha Mar, which I think are also owned by John Bull.

Here is a handy calculator ...
It’s only for estimating purposes but as above it is definitely something you should handle above board with Canada Customs. https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-v...t-cal-eng.html |

Another question. Does customs accept cash? Or should I have my debit card ready?

I went to the Atlantis store this past November and they had next to nothing in stock. On top of that the two women behind the counter couldn't be bothered to even say hello to me in the store much less see if I was interested in a watch. I realize I looked like a regular tourist but I was wearing my Tudor GMT at the time.
