And just like that, the NOS 2020 hulk prices don’t look so bad after all.

Professional brokers and traders. Someone buys an OP at $6,300-$6,500 and sells to DSW for $7,200. DSW sells for 8,100.

Bigger profits for the new Sub!!!

Rolex, AD, Flipper, DSW all make money.

Customer gets his watch without waiting.

This batch looks like it came straight from an Ad as part of a big bundle

He has numerous pieces described as “unworn condition, AD removed the plastics”

In addition to the 2020 models there is a CHNR and a Diamond Datejust 36 with the exact same description. Guessing there are others as well.

Customer gets screwed out of $18 000, and other Customers have to wait longer

Not sure I understand how this impacts the wait time for other prospective customers. The watch was sold — so it’s in the hands of a customer or flipper. Other watches are available from other dealers.

Nobody has a gun to his head forcing the purchase of an expensive watch. If the customer feels “screwed,” he screwed himself.

Lol, no. AD sells directly to the grey, who also buy lesser desirable pieces in bundle, AD and Grey makes money. End consumers get screwed.

My ad hasn’t seen the first yet. Said he had 20-25 wanting a Cermit, but that most of the calls were actually for the red OP41.

Never thought in all my life of watch collecting with Rolex I would see a premium on a Oyster Perpetual. Wow....

The Sub is on a whole other level of madness.

I just wish all these people/things that ruined our hobby the last 3-4 years would go back to doing whatever they were doing.

We've always had Greys and thats is perfectly fine but they have NOT always operated there business model like this. Just wow....

I know that there will always be people who have more dollars than sense but this is absurd. Watch collecting used to be fun but IMHO our hobby has been ruined at least for Rolex. Fortunately, there are plenty of other brands out there that produce excellent watches and that is where I'm spending my money.

Cheers,

Jonathan

You absolutely have to get away from the Rolex brand. There is so much joy and satisfaction in owning other brands. Most of our hardcore members moved into other brands a few years back. Notice the actual watch discussions in the other brand forums.

This. I still hold a few nice Rolex in my collection, and will always love them, but other brands (FPJ, Panerai, UJ and others) have had my attention lately. The Rolex market has become not fun for me. And I have a great AD relationship and can get that most things at retail (except the damn SS Daytona! ) with a year or less wait. It still isn't "fun" for me anymore. I can only imagine some of the frustration from new collectors.

One day, no idea how far from now, watches will be back in cases and all this hysteria will have died down. Five years? Ten years? I have no idea. But someday. Until then I will keep a toe in the Rolex waters and have fun with other brands as well.
