Plexi is Sexy!

Unbelievably thrilled to find a brand new 1861 on a strap today! First purchase of the year and while I've owned many Omegas over the years this is my first Speedy!! Amazing look, and owning a piece of an era about to end is fabulous! Getting a 20% discount sure helped the medicine go down too!!!

Sweet

In an earlier thread I think I gathered you were unsure about the bracelet. Did they work out a swap for that strap and deployant? I love wearing my Speedmaster Pro in that configuration

Hi Tony - Actually I ended up at a different AD. Had the 1861 with the strap and I was in love. Yeah, just not a fan of Omega metal bracelets. So happy to have found the right watch rather than settling!

Luckily there are two Omega dealers near me that have the Hesalite... One has on bracelet and that same leather strap you have (Adam) and I tried both on last night, and the other AD has Hesalite on bracelet and also the sapphire when I checked two weeks ago. Was hoping to get over there today and negotiate but ended up getting too busy. I'll try tomorrow.

I'm so torn about getting an 1861 vs the new 3861 (I like the thinner case, and hacking seconds, METAS and the tapered bracelet). Both have their benefits, but price and a discount on the 1861 are extremely tempting. As cool as the stepped dial is, I think I prefer the dial on the 1861.

Availability is another factor. My wife is due in two weeks and I wanted to get a Speedmaster to time contractions like a geek.

Oh and congrats on the new Speedmaster.

Congrats on your upcoming baby!! I wish you all good health and happiness. I was torn as well. But on the strap, I was completely sold. It just rides lower and the height just melts away. Got a great deal on the 1861 but more than that, I just felt like getting the last of what will be a bygone era of watches was important. The META wasn't a big deal to me as I end up switching out watches every few days so they always run down anyhow.

I do like the applied logo on the new version but having the classic was about keeping it real!

Availability is a big deal. I am sick of playing the game of Chase the Rolex and it was nice to walk into a store and walk out with a watch. PLUS - for you, it's a wonderful milestone to get it now for the birth of your new baby! I would absolutely get it right away.

Good luck and Mazel-Tov!

Just to update, I got the call from the Omega boutique yesterday for the new 3861 and I once I saw it I could not resist.

So I have my first chronograph, ready to time those contractions. Nervous as hell, lol.

I was on the list for an Explorer that I was going to wear as my daily (patiently waiting since September), but I might just wear this Speedmaster daily now, I like it that much so far. Seriously it's amazing. Of course if I get the call for the Explorer, I will go in to see it at least. But I could could wear this as an only watch forever (honeymoon goggles on though ).

Congrats on a smart pick up. Looks great on the strap. That’s how I wear my 1861.

The retail price on the watch is only $50 less with a leather band, correct me if I'm wrong. Why not simply buy the 1861, with a bracelet, sell the bracelet and buy a ton of different straps and NATOs with the money from the sale of the bracelet?? Curious as to your thought process on this decision.

Yeah, that would have been smarter but... Oh well.

I made the same choice and I’m very happy as well. Nobody does straps or deployants better than Omega.
