Preference for BLNR 2021 - Oyster or Jubilee?

We have a thread going re the BLRO, but what do you all think about the BLNR on Oyster vs Jubilee? The latter often referred to as Batgirl had IMO a negative connotation to it.

I personally think the Oyster is better, but several of my non WIS friends have said the Jubilee is the way to go, both for the BLRO and the BLNR. I already have the Pepsi Jubilee, so in my collection, to me there is one clear answer. Thoughts?

Assume you were in the position to choose either

Not my pic btw Screenshot_20210407-185056_Chrome~2.jpg

But imagine your AD had both of them for you two choose.... And you had a Pepsi BLRO on jubilee

So I guess there is no wrong answer... But doesn't the Oyster look beefier, more substantial and more masculine/manlier...I hope I don't get flamed.

I think the old Batman bigger case and lugs with oyster bracelet gives that look and feeling vs the new BLNR jubilee. I choose oyster.

There is no wrong answer for sure. I’ve had both BLNRs and even swapped a Sub glidelock on the BLRO and they all look and feel great. The latter looked best IMO because of the brushed links. Part of the answer lies in what else you have in your collection. Eg, if you have a Sub, then a jubilee provides additional variety and differentiation. Of course, you can always source an extra bracelet (not easy but possible) and have the best of both worlds.

The main point many of us are trying to make is that you’d be lucky enough to be offered either one, so it would be in your best interest to let your AD know that you’d be happy with the first available. It’s not like he’s going to order you one, he’s going to offer you whatever he gets in and you don’t want to miss an opportunity due pickiness about the bracelet type. Good luck!

Thanks.. Point well taken.

But I assure you I have the choice of either, and I can get either quite swiftly.

Well my 3 non WIS friends voted jubilee Batman, they choose that even over the Pepsi! So I guess it just boils down to preference.

Same here. The non wis people that I know prefer jubilee on Batman too.

I actually prefer it on jubilee 100% as well after trying it on - unique to have it on a sports watch and separates it from the other models that are mostly oyster, plus it fits the original intent of attire in aviation imo. GMT and jubilee goes hand in hand to me 👍

Agree. Especially for you with a BLRO jubilee. For me, having a different look to my daily 41mm sub date also made the jubilee more desirable.

Personally I’m really please it’s been re-released on Oyster.

Never really clicked with it on Jubilee ( no offence to Jubilee owners who I’m sure are perfectly happy with it)

I was recently considering paying a hefty premium & going grey for the Oyster, so this release has done me a massive favour if I can snag one at retail from the AD.

Wonder if this will now affect grey prices of the original version?

Not sure Max... I'm curious to see what effect it will have on production and output. It's Rolex going to produce twice as many of the blnrs? Is Rolex going to produce same number, now split in half perhaps causing even greater wait times?

I think Rolex was producing far fewer blros relative to blnrs, based on my discussions with several ADs, and I think that reflects in the market price.

The former oyster original BLNR seemed to be trading around the same price as the Jubilee blnr... Prices shot up in the last week 1,000 or 2 for the oyster blnr... Strange.

I think many many years down the line, as in many decades down the line, when we are 100 years old, the original Oyster blnr will be more sought after, for several reasons, first ceramic bicolor bezel, Mark 1 release/the original, very limited run of I believe approximately 6 years, there can only be one first one. I don't know how much of that is going to matter in the next 5 to 15 years however, honestly.

The original will always be the first bicolor ceramic GMT, Mk1 Batman, that counts for something for collectors. I believe the new Batman will rise in price over the current BLNR jubilee, and the Batgirl and mint old Batman will always be around the same price, or the Batman even a bit higher than Batgirl. New Batman Oyster > Old Batman Oyster > Batman jubilee. That will stay until the New Batman gets discontinued, and then the old Batman Mk1 will be the sought after one with the higher price.

So if you have BLNR Jubilee and order the Oyster bracelet then you automatically climb to top rung on ur value ladder?

Depends if Rolex will allow that, and yes a Batman Oyster will sell higher than jubilee grey if the current steel sports situation continues. If Rolex allows selling oyster bracelets without watch then don't forget you will be paying a high price for it.
