Trade Polar 16570 for a white milgauss?

Would anyone here do this trade? Polar ExpII (3135, Y serial) in excellent condition for a white milgauss in similar condition?

If so, straight trade? Or +cash?

I'd say it depends on how you wear the watch. Personally, there'd have to some cash on top, because the 5 digit ExpII is the quintessential Rolex. Especially that serial.

I have the 16570 Polar and wouldn't make that trade.

I'm unsure of value of each, but in terms of the watch I prefer the polar

Both nice examples of white dialled Rolexes. I think the white dial Milgauss is a sleeper and that would get my vote

Both great watches, but trading one Rolex with two complications for one with none...nope, not for me!

Just feels a bit like following hype (the Milgauss just wasn't that popular or even on most folks radar until quite recently).

I would. I find the white Milgauss more interesting. YMMV.

I would keep the Exp, though I would not mind having Milgauss either.

I’m not sure honestly. I like both and they both have their merits, but they are pretty vastly different. If you are just getting tired of the Explorer and it doesn’t do it for you anymore then absolutely do it, the Milgauss is a great watch. However if you are unsure don’t.

I love the Milgauss and sold my Exp. 2 to purchase it, but in all honestly I would like another one one day, but probably a 16570 Polar but just add it. Honestly the Milgauss although a beautiful watch offers much less for the money, no GMT feature and no date function. I believe it makes up for it largely in the nice and polished style and uniqueness of it all despite being less functional.

What are your reasons for looking to trade if I may ask?

I looked at my polar 16570 and then looked up white dial milgauss and the answer is no.

I have owned the Polar 16570 and very much regret selling it. Never cared for the Milgauss simply because of the odd looking second hand. So no, I would personally not do this deal.

What is it about the Milgauss that peek your interest? Do you need the antimagnetic feature of the watch? Why are you considering moving on from the EXPII? If it’s no longer excite you, then consider the move. Personally I would not do an even trade b/c the EXPII has two additional functions that are very useful. Although I’m biased.

I had a P serial Polar and Seriously hate myself for getting rid of it but I own the Z-blue variant Milgauss and Its a niche piece but something about it really screams future classic to me in just the same way that these explorer II's got no love a few years ago.

I would actually do the trade, the MG has more personality and better wrist presence, it's quirky and cool. There are not too many white dial professional sport models and the creamsicle orange gives it another cool feature. This will be very unpopular opinion but when I tried on the 40mm EXP II I was underwhelmed and easily passed, it was 5500 at the time pre-owned of course and there were plenty available. It was a great value watch at the time and an awesome piece I just didn't feel it as much as my 42mm EXPII which I later bought.

I was looking at something similar a long while back. Was going to trade the EX II for the green glass Milgauss. That changed when I actually tried on the Milgauss. I loved the 'look', but not the fit. It was a very thick watch. Just didn't feel right on my wrist.

Another vote for the Explorer II. I like the Milgauss as well but it doesn’t wear well, in comparison.

In regards to head to head value, I’m not familiar with current rates but would figure you should be seeing some cash on top.

I prefer the white Milgauss to the explorer, so yeah for sure I would do that trade.

I’m looking for a white Milgauss currently.

Let us know how you go.

Thanks all. Here are my thoughts and some more details.

There are actually very few Rolexes that really do anything for me. I have no desire for a Sub or a Daytona. I like the Skydweller, the Milgauss, and the Airking (I also like vintage such as the various bubblebacks). I liked the modern Explorer II but when I tried it on at an AD a number of years ago it was WAY too big for my wrist. I tried on a buddies 5 digit ExpII a few years later and still liked the look and the fit was much better.

I almost bought the white Milgauss right as the pandemic started, but I got greedy and thought COVID would drop prices so didn't pull the trigger. Needless to say, that was not a strategy that worked out :)

I bought the 116900 Airking at the end of last year. Great piece and I love it (and I frankly got a steal on it), and based on that I know how the MIlgauss will fit.

I bought the 5 digit ExpII a few months ago. I will admit that the fact that a new ExpII was coming out was a factor in that decision. I paid a fair price (but not a "steal"). I like the piece very much but I guess I'm second guessing myself on passing on the white millie last year.

So now i'm second guessing myself and wondering if I should trade it for the piece that started it all.

It depends which of the two you like more. Personally, having just acquired the new polar Explorer, I much prefer it to the Milgauss.

If you do the trade, keep in mind that the Explorer, which has 2 more complications than the Milgauss, is worth more. So do not add any cash.
