One AD’s Vetting Process Revealed???

FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY

Got to give the credit to Paul Thorpe on this one. Entertaining read — but I can’t vouch for its authenticity.

Note: ROI = Registration of Interest

Would the new Kermit/Hulk be high or super high demand?

Haha, my AD hasn’t done any of that, maybe that’s why I haven’t got my Daytona, BLRO, Sky D in blue and my Sub LV.

Is this a joke? Client whips out their Amex and has new hot model in 24hrs from DavidSW. Money really does make life more simple.

Yes this is a complete joke.

No one has a purchase history in the last 12 months as AD's wont sell anything to walk in customers. Even my AD who has sold me 4 watches says he has nothing for me.

Type up a list and put it on the net. That does not make it true

Probably a good guess. Almost certainly UK, at the very least.

I’ve bought from Mappin & Webb who are part of the WoS group, all I had to do was complete one of their register of interest cards. Basically them taking my contact details, the cards that allegedly go in the bin when you leave the store.

As for the rest, never been asked.

Once they have your name, phone number, and address… the AD doesn’t need to ask you anything. They can verify and find all the additional information they want to know about you with a few clicks.

I sent inquiry online to an AD 3 hours away across the state.

They called that afternoon, we had a great chat. Realized I’m a watch nut, said let me call you back.

They did and I drove to get it the following morning.

Joked with them about how I lucked out - he said “nah, you were the first to call about a single watch in a while and knew your Sub history, more than I did”

He also said most call and say “I’d like to get on a list for a Daytona, GMT, and the green sub”. Those calls get ignored along with any uttering of “investment”.

There’s good ones out there.

Also don’t say “Rollie”.

ETA:

The checklist is absurd for a watch, I’d go grey or not buy if that was standard.

This is feel is 100%
They can sell a watch 1000s times over so if they get the right connection with somebody cause they will make something happen
well done on your purchase

Back in 2000, on another lesser watch forum, I suggested that buying a Rolex would come to this at some point (especially the extensive BIO part) and I was given the boot for my prognostications...HA! Look where we are now!

I think I can. Just like everything else that comes out of his mouth. Four letters, begins with s, ends in t, isn't soot.

Walk in, plunk down 75-150k in jewelry you dont want and lets see what the AD does with that matrix. Joe gray walks in and matrix also out the window.

All of this nonsense for a mid-tier, mass-manufactured luxury watch. Quite hilarious seeing what people will do to get a Rolex on their wrist....

But hey, we all have our vices and what makes us happy.

Although we really know why Rolex is this popular right now. Can be flipped for real cash and is "hard" to get for many. Take both of those away and these watches sit in showcases like they did years ago.
