Just back from Le Brassus service & authentication!
I just got my 5402ST back from AP 5402 heritage service, refinishing and authentication today. I'm really pleased at how it turned out!
Link to previous thread about service experience, price and options I included a before pic at the end to compare. After: Before service in May 2021: |

Is that supposed to be AP’s factory finish?

i might've preferred the case and bracelet as it were, matches the patina/aging of the dial better, but as long as you love it that way, you did the right thing, enjoy!

It’s beautiful! I’m pretty jealous of you :)
They did a great job on the finishing! One question, couldn’t they give the bezel its sharp corners again or is that not possible? |

I would have thought if rolliworks can laser weld, that AP would do this too and bring back the sharp corners

While I was talking on the phone they mentioned they were proposing a "light" refinishing multiple times. I wasn't sure what to expect when it came back, but I wasn't thinking it would look like it was completely new. We didn't discuss the bezel sharpness specifically. The proposal said: "The bezel and middle case are in good to average condition. Proposing light refinishing." |

Given the "before" starting point, I think AP did a good job adding some definition to the bezel corners without the distortions on the bezel facets many non-AP polishing jobs have. Laser welding for local dings is one thing, adding material all around so that you can start shaping the bezel from scratch is another. At that point, I assume they'd just recommend replacing the bezel.
