Rolex DayDate 228396

Hello,
I am planning to buy a Rolex Day Date 228396 in Platinum....
Its the piece with the baguette bezel, it looks so beautiful and the piece is as well in the current Rolex catalog and on the website.
A few ADs told me that's its much more difficult to get this than the normal DD in Pt.. --> is this true ??
What do you think about that piece?
Do you think is it worth....
i would like to buy it with the ice blue dial and the diamond markers.

Thanks a lot !!

This was 2020... but in 2020 it was also easy to geht a 116506 ;-)
This is the piece.....

Wow, wow, wow, this is the most gorgeous Day-Date.

I would purchase it right away if I get an offer from my AD but I will not buy it from grey because it will cost way too much now.

I really like it - but I do think it’s a letdown they didn’t do a baguette bezel.

I am fortunate to have this exact configuration. It is even more amazing in person than in pictures, and it definitely wears as a hefty and masculine piece. The AD I purchased it from isn't a big fan of diamonds on watches, but this is his favorite Rolex configuration, hands down.

That’s absolute true when I saw it first time it’s one of the best diamond Rolex pieces ever made and fits better to a 116506 😬

Your DD is very beautiful but this DD I had a few years ago, now I like stones much more and the stones in the bezel from the 228396 are pure fire !!

While I usually am not a fan of diamond bezels, I like the look of the diamond bezel much more than the smooth bezel seen on the Pt Day-Date models. I wish Rolex would offer the Pt models with the fluted bezel as offered on the gold models.

Yes for me I would choose the diamond bezel on this particular model over smooth.

I’m actually the opposite, I’m not a fan of the fluted bezel, it’s one of the reason why I got the plat.

The smooth bezel makes the watch look modern and sporty.

Gorgeous DD! Not my taste, but asking about if it’s “worth it”?
If you’ll absolutely love it and get complete enjoyment out of it….then it’s worth it!

I'm not sure what your question is, but the watch is definitely a beauty.

The question was, do you think this piece is really much more difficult to get than any other DD…??

That baguette bezel is amazing. Not a fan of the bezel from OP’s picture. Surely those are different bezels?

it's definitely a baguette bezel but it looks like round stones because of the way the baguettes connect. i think it's just because there's no contrast and it's taken straight on instead of at an angle, it would probably be more visible if they were sapphires or rubies

Interesting. Baguettes are a whole other level. Love a baguette set DD40 dial.
