Rolex Sea Deweller 1665 need your opinion

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a 1979 SD with the following conditions. (photo attached). I understand there is a lot different of dials. The asking price is around USD$15,000.

Year: 1979 (SN# 61xxxxx)
Cal: 1570
Dia: 40
Document: come with original doc and box.
What should be the correct wrist band with the watch?
Also, the seller indicated the watch has never being serviced yet the crown looks like a "service crown"

Thanks in advance of all opinion.

Henry

Hi....

The watch looks great, a stunner. I think that price is a bit steep. Have seen others on VRF for less, also with B&P.

I´m not an expert..but one thing came to mind. If the watch is from 1979 with that serial. Should it not come with a rail dial? If I´m right about the serial and time frame (I´m not 100% sure) that dial could have been replaced during service.

But others with more knowledge may have another opinion.

Br

The watch looks great, would need a better pic of the dial, it look a Long F (service).
Serial n. 6.1XX.XXX may have both rail dial or Mk3

New images

Went to see the watch and took some more images.

There is another picture of a different watch. Still 1665 but with a small "ft". This one doesn't have B&D.

Is the dial look right for the year?

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by a "Service Crown"???
And I'm pretty sure that in 1979 it would have come with a 93150 Bracelet with 585 end pieces, maybe 580's??.....My Rail Dail (Ser.#571XXX) from 1977 had a 93150 with 585 end pieces....Hope this helps...
