Is it greedy having more than one rolex?

Obviously there will be a bias coming from a Rolex forum - but the vast vast majority of people never own one Rolex, then I would presume the vast majority of Rolex owners buy their one expensive piece for life.

We get desensitized to this on the forums and watch social media with multi-piece and huge collections but taking a step back I kind of feel it is kind of crazy to have multiple five figure jewelry pieces when one or none would easily suffice.

People are free to do as they wish with their money.

They should be free of judgement when it comes to what they buy, when they buy it, how they buy it and how much they pay.

It's all relative too... 4-5 Rolex watches to you might be like buying 4-5 bic biro pens to someone else.

As I say it's all relative.

I have 6 Rolexes, and a total watch collection of about 12 pieces, ranging from the £5k mark to £100 mark.

If you're comfortable with it, that's all that matters, not what others think. If you're not, no one is forcing you to buy anything :)

I believe I understand your post and the underlying sentiment. I’ll say that on a certain level, I do think it’s excessive in some ways.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the less is more philosophy. Not just in watches, but in many things.

Take the above with a grain of salt as I own several “nice watches”.

It's just a product like any other product. Someone makes a widget and someone else gets to decide whether it is worth the amount of labor it took to make that money.

Unnecessary doesn't not equal greedy.

Is it greedy to own a vehicle with leather seats when cloth seats will do? Many people will never own a vehicle with leather seats, or a vehicle at all, so where does it end?

Equality is when everyone gets the same thing, equity is when everyone gets the version of that thing that best suits their needs. Nobody needs a Rolex so having one or many isn’t greed, it’s simply preference.

Some folks have polo ponies and yachts. Others have simple stamp collections. Or give any “excess” funds to charity. Or spend it gambling. Personal decisions. I would say watch collecting is a lesser evil.

I now have multiple, but had I been able to get my BLNR from the beginning, i'm not sure I would have went so far down the rabbit hole and would probably only have my Seamaster and the BLNR.

While I love watches, I do agree, it does feel a bit nuts at times.

This. It's always a personal choice how one spends their income. I never thought I'd be fortunate enough to own the collection I have, but I've done it while maintaining financial balance and responsibilities.
