Icon20 Kermit Flat 4 Opportunity

Stumbled on a 2003 Kermit Flat 4 at a remote AD. Asking $28k with B&P, which is over market. But this timepiece is stunning and so rare.

AD holding it for 24 hours. Do I buy or pass?

Do you want an 03 LV Sub? That out, I think it’s way overpriced. I would keep looking.

Pass! Hard pass for a small detail on a bezel. It’s all made up hype

Then there are those old manual Daytonas they couldn’t sell in their day.

I am biased - I like my old LV.

Thread needs a pix?

Have to agree but hype sells watches to today as many buy the hype to wear it. Plus there has been reports on forum when they sent there 16610LV with a pointed 4 font, when returned it had a flat 4 font but insert was a slightly different colour green. All the subs SD in this same time frame had flat 4 insert fonts and its been used a few time over the past 50 odd year's.

Hyped Rolex watches is what it's all about isn't it? There are many examples of over-hyped watches from Rolex. Those little differences are what many collectors look for and collect.

A big decision at that price point.

AU$42000.

Wow.

But if you really want it.

They are not making any more of that model.

Op, that’s allot of $$$ for a flat 4 Sub and they have come down in price recently.
But if you really gotta have it go for it and enjoy, you only live once.

Cheers,

Can’t imagine touching one for that price. Flat four not that big of a deal for me. Mostly mega hype from the crazy days past. 10% premium if any seems reasonable. I do like the original LV. Happy to have a nice exmple.

This nashvillewatch.com set is missing the LV hang tag and the non USA paper doesn't identify the watch as an LV. While it is nice to have an LV service card, it is missing the prime essentials identifying this as an LV and this is what most collectors want.

I’d have thought that RSC would not have serviced it if it wasn’t a real LV

I don’t think Springer is claiming the Nashville Watch offering is “not an LV” but rather it is not in that true top 1% of desirable examples that a certain type of collector wants. So it’s not a fair comparison to the described $28K version.

Risk of causing damage/wear to the bezel?

It’s practically NOS. Almost Flawless. I enjoy looking at it and handling and wearing it would just freak me out. I have more expensive watches that I wear constantly but for some reason I can’t wear this thing as lame as it sounds.

Got it. I got a great condition one too with the sharp brushed lugs too. I take good care of it as well, but do wear it. It’s not my daily but it’s a keeper I’d never sell

Hit 65, lose a kidney to disease, hope the other one does not go that route, with that watch? I will wear it like there is no tomorrow.
Life is short.

Point so well taken. Greatly appreciate the sentiment. I’m gonna commit to trying to wear this!
