5712 & 5726 for NIB 5740

Would you trade a 5712 and a white 5726 for a NIB 5740? I may have the opportunity to do such a trade. I feel like a 5740 is like a blend of the two and accomplish the same thing with the benefit of PM. The flip side is that you have two diff dial colors with diff complications so some versatile wear. I look forward to your thoughts.

Yes. Feel like the 5740 is a mix of the two, resulting in a magnificent piece that is a substantial upgrade over either and both. Tried the 5740 last week for the first time and cannot get it out of my head. Wow, what a piece.

100%

All for consolidation and never liked 5726. If wear and tear on the PM is a concern you might try to keep the steel 5712 for the rough days.

I’d do it.
I think the 5740 is safe enough you could always trade out of it for whatever you want. I don’t think you’ll feel stuck in it. I also think the 5740 has a bright future.

Wow, that 5726's white dial is clean! Love it and would personally not make such trade, despite the magic of the 5740. The combo you have now complications wise and color wise is one great sight to behold!

I'm not really aware of the prices but in terms of watches I think I would make the trade.

2 obstacles you may want to consider are:
- You like change, not wearing always the same watch, then the white and blue dials make them 2 different watches for 2 different moods. You might not want to wear the same 5740 all the time. Less of a problem if you have other watches aside you like to wear.
- The weight. Steal being lighter, some find it more comfortable to wear in the case it is worn a bit loosely.

For the 5740: I enjoy the thinness, the QP, the 240 caliber, the shine of white gold.

As an owner of a 5712, I struggle with the price differential to trade up to a 5740. The 5740 is beautiful, but not $100K nicer than 5712. I kept the 5712 and added 5170P. Alternatively you could add 5236P for the difference.

5740 definitely replaces the 5726. Then, the decision is about whether you’d ever wear the 5711? Too similar for me to keep both (or all three).

I am VERY seriously considering this one….i only wish papers would be in my name but that’s not really a big deal. Obviously wish I could keep the two and just buy the ‘40 but that’s just not in the cards right now. Not to mention for the last few years 90% of my wrist time has been going to platinum Day Date.

Nope - too much of a premium for 2 watches that are already grails by themselves and still different enough to get different wrist wear...
