Best Way to Convert Sprite to Batgirl?

I'm after a Batgirl, but was offered a Sprite from my AD. Rather than continuing to wait, I'll most likely buy it with the goal to leverage it into the BLNR.

It looks like both watches are trading around the same price on Watch Charts, so what's the easiest and safest way to go about this? Is a straight-up trade reasonable, or would I most likely need to bring some cash to the table? What is the Batgirl is 2-4 years old? Any thoughts on how you'd go about the swap would be appreciated.

In NYC area.

Not the same price. The sprite sells for more, around 2K imo.

First of all buy it, you might actually like and keep it. Then go to an AD that sales certified Rolex and see if you can trade in as leverage. That is what I would do. That or wait for the BLNR.

Sounds reasonable as my biggest concern is getting a fake in exchange.

If you go through an AD you should get a new one, or a certified one.

Factor in cost and time of service. Send to RSC, pay for service and call it a day. Any concern you have will be gone and it only costs a little time and money.

Other option is Rolex CPO but they are very overpriced.

The VTNR won’t be eligible for the CPO program obviously, just adding that in in case.

I’d just call a TRF seller and get a brand new BLNR for an even swap. I think the VTNR might grow on you though, it has for a lot of people since it’s intro.

I'd think you would have to add some cash, but I guess that would depend on a lot of different variables.

Maybe reach out to one of the trusteds who have the BLNR you want, and ask them? Good luck, the BLNR is a fantastic watch.

You could try this, but expect to pay thousands of $. What they sell them for, and what they offer in trade are nowhere near similar.

Buy it, headed to 47th st, find a reputable dealer and trade your watch for a Batgirl. You will most likely get about 1k back.

The Sprite is dropping fast on the wholesale, so I wouldn't expect any more then 1k.

This crossed my mind as I follow a couple of those guys on Instagram. Any tips on how to find the reputable ones?

This makes perfect sense. No point buying something that you really aren’t bothered about

If only it were that easy. For better or worse, there are things I'd like to spend the additional $5k on other than a grey market markup.

Yes, I totally get it.

I guess it all depends on how much you think you can “save” but doing this trade and the hassle associated with it.

Now me, if it’s a watch I’m going to wear and enjoy then the markup may or may not be worth it.

I justify a lot of crazy things by the number of wears or years of wear I’ll get out of them.

For example, 15k watch / 15 weeks of wear = $1000 a week. That’s rich.

But if I keep the watch for say 10 years = $100 /week.

I can continue to make it look very affordable

Ahhhhh, the justification matrix.

This needs it's own sticky.

You should be able to get this done easily with a good dealer but I'd just be honest with the AD and the watch you want will come soon.

On watchcharts, I see VTNR market value around $1k more than BLNR jubilee. I don’t believe the long term value of VTNR will hold above BLNR

Guessing a fair amount of folks prefer BLNR than VTNR based on empirical (anecdotal) feedback around here so I understand your interest in exchanging the two references.

When I first saw your post, I thought you meant swapping bezels! Lol

I’d decline the sprite, and say to them you’ll wait for a batgirl.
You’re being honest, and not risking being blacklisted for selling/trading a newly purchased watch.

I’ve been thinking that engineering a swap sounds like a lot of work. This is the way.
