New member and new Explorer II, black (w/pics!)
Howdy!
Well, I've been looking forward to getting my very first Rolex. I had always been mesmerized by the displays when walking past ADs, and of course, the first one that called my attention was the Submariner. But then I saw an ad (I think it was National Geographic) and saw the booklet, and I just _knew_ that The One was the Explorer II -- maybe my pictures will tell why :). I was undecided on the dial color, but I chose black (and I'm happy with it). Thank you very much to all in TRF! You have been an endless source of knowledge. I have learned more about Rolex and watches in general in the month that I've been here than in the years before. And now, some pictures, because you really helped in my decision and purchasing process, so I'd like to share. Thank you! |

Thanks, Lol-x!!! Yeah, I liked that picture too, and it was really an accident. I had one of the pictures open in Photoshop, I just wanted to adjust the colors a little bit and blur one part that was "competing" with the watch for attention, and while going to the "blur" effect I clicked on this one by mistake and I thought "Whoa, that actually looks pretty good!" so I looked for one picture that would really showcase the Explorer II.

Thank you very much to all! Thanks for the warm welcome. I was just talking last night to a friend (he is in this forum too, and he also got recently his first Rolex, a TT Submariner) and we were commenting on how strange this "addiction" is. Strange, but really enjoyable!

Thanks, JJ! You are legendary in this forum. And if you don't mind a lowly newbie asking you a question, I have had this in my mind for a while (well, a few weeks): you have an awesome review of an Explorer II, it has been viewed 46,816 times as of this morning. Do you still have it? It's just that it's not listed in your signature so I wonder if you decided to let it go to another wrist. - Fofo |

Thanks, sakuraba!
Actually, they were only staged pictures. Now the Explorer is in the safe, it won't see the sun again because it might fade and scratch ng: No!!! I'm wearing it all day, every day! Soon I'll take it into a cave and take some pictures there. BTW, I recognize your avatar. Very true! (and funny!) BTW2, I'm in the Monterey area... |

Awesome. BTW, I heard that you had the first snow of the season this weekend in Minnesota. It must look beautiful also, with the fall colors! |

Thanks, Karis!
I brought it yesterday to the San Francisco service center, with Giovanni. He is great! He helped me adjust it (I needed to take one more link out on the 6 side, but it was one of the permanent ones), did it in a couple of minutes and now it fits perfectly. He has a white Explorer II, about 10 years old and still looking great, and he was really interested in checking out a new model. And then we spent some time checking out some magazines with collectors models (like a cream dial Explorer II). |
