Congrats. I wouldn't have done it, but I have the new 12 series SubC date and love it. Can't blame you for wanting it and agree that it wears great, better than the 11 series. I'd move the 11 series for something different, but that's just me and I have a small collection.

Thank you for making me seem less nuts.

In all seriousness, I don't know how to answer your question. Please don't misunderstand, it's a great question, I just don't have an answer. But let me give a couple of insights....

I think the "supercase" is going to be highly collectable and sought after 50 years from now because it is so different than any Submariner ever made previously. I am 58 so I might not be around to enjpy selling mine and making a big profit.

I was at my AD on Tuesday and trying the new one on when a friend of both the AD and me stopped in for a quick visit and he had bought the new one very recently from our AD. After me ribbing the AD for getting his before I was offered one and all of us laughing, the friend commented on how much better the new one wore compared to his previous model bluesy. He even offered for me to wear his for a couple of weeks and compare them. At that point, I knew I was sold on the new one. And I think he is right. This new one is something else. I can't explain it, but it wears so nicely. All Rolex wear nice, but this one is special. And I decided this one will be a "daily", meaning I won't worry about it. It did cross my mind that if something happened to my previous one that I got a year ago, I literally couldn't replace it. So while I will wear the maxi-case on occasion, the new one will be a "daily driver" since it is replaceable.
Glad you are enjoying it. I find that the new one wears pretty much identical. I like the feel of the maxi case bracelet better, it feels higher quality to me, tighter tolerances.

I will say that so far the 3235 seems to be keeping even better time than my 3135, which is hard to believe as it runs about +.3 in all positions, vs approx +.1 for the new guy...we’ll see how it breaks in.

I agree I think the maxi will be sought after. But I figured that would be the case for a long while, since I like the thick lugs and everyone else kept lamenting the older more discrete proportions. Those same folks we be the ones lamenting and pining for the fat boy 10 years from now.

Speculating on Rolex value is for losers...watches aren’t meant to sell, better to hoard! :)

Although they are the same model they aren’t the same watch. Great pick up! Congrats.

The sub isn't very nutritious so if you're going to have one you should consider having many.
