CPO and Original Papers?

When the Rolex CPO program was announced the question was asked whether if available the CPO watch's original papers, box etc. would be included...I guess yes in this instance...a friend recently purchased a CPO Rolex and enclosed is what was received. For me, I toss all the useless tidbits that come with a Rolex but many people for sundry reasons like to hang onto the junk like grim death.

That's good to know. I presumed it just came with Rolex CPO papers

I don't deal with the buying/selling side of things, but the job slips for CPO pieces that I service will specify whether or not the watch has box & papers.

As far as I know w a CPO Rlx time piece and from what I had witnessed either CPO card and full papers if included w watch. For instance I had seen a CPO hulk over the holidays w box & CPO card only for $25k at Bucherer.

Unlike you who discards useless stuff Rolex knows the true collector value of these things.
They didn’t became the brand they are today by throwing away stuff worth thousands

I don’t get that attitude, just like I don’t get the I-don’t-care and just wear the bracelet too big because a banged up watch is somehow cool.
I look at the few material things that I actually care about (watches, guitars, pens, cameras, guns, certain cars) as pieces of history and marvels of western society and engineering. Paperwork, boxes, cases, even coffee table books etc are all part of the experience for me. And I’m always thinking that it’s important to preserve things for future generation - including the context of boxes, paperwork and receipts.
Most of our world is junk and disposable. So I enjoy the few remaining things that are meant to last generations.

My guess is they will include with the watch whatever came in with it when acquired. I would be kind of surprised if they included a warranty card/papers with the original owner’s name on it.

In the case of my friend's CPO watch the original paper warranty does indeed have the original owner's name and address or I assume it's the original owner as there is a name and address in the Name and address of Purchaser section of the warranty papers.

The 'useless stuff' helps with provenance & proof of authenticity for future generations or if you decide to sell.

Whenever I see a watch for sale with no box or papers I just think 'stolen'

I stand corrected: I did find some bric-a-brac related to my GMT Master that escaped the rubbish bin; I can see now the watch was sold in 1999, serviced in 2012 and again serviced in 2018; I guess these tidbits have shown true grit in surviving my apathy this long so they get a stay of execution :)

I’m sort of in the same boat.

I get that to some, perhaps many outside of the WIS community, might just toss the papers and box after buying.

I guess maybe that would make me question how well they’ve take care of their watch as well

If a CPO at an AD had original papers, I for one would hope that they are "blank" where the original buyer's name might ordinarily be noted.

In this CPO case your hopes would be dashed as all the original information is on the warranty.

They sold a watch to Winnie the Pooh? What'd he use for currency, Honey?

I'm aghast that Rolex would violate the EU regulations about privacy, though.

Insulting people for the way they collect their watches is not a good idea. You definitely could've made your point without throwing digs.
