116655 or 126655? Advice please

Impossible to get it from an AD so going used or grey. 116655 can be purchase 22 k usd and 126655 can be bought at 27k usd. Both are used.
116655 is a 2016 model while the 126655 is a 2021 model.
My questions are:
1. Should I buy the 116655 as it about 5k usd cheaper and I’m ok missing out on the 72 hours and the glidelock
2. Thou 116655 is cheaper but it’s 8 years watch compared to the 126655 which is 3 years. Should i spend 5k more on the 126655 as the watch is still new and under guarantee while the 116655 is already 8 years which I’m worry about the wear and tear.
Your friendly and unbiased comments please. Thanks

For me, I have more faith in the 11 series movement today. Also, imho, I think a long power reserve is useless if there is a chance the watch runs poorly.

Absolute worst case buy the 11, spend $1000 on a RSC service. You get 2 years warranty and save 4 bones.

Edit. The glidelock is a super nice clasp.

Thanks. Great advice! Agree on the glidelock

I owned a 126655 and the glide lock was a life saver in warm weather. I know it’s more but it’s a superior watch in pretty much every way movement wise. It’s the one that got away for me, shouldn’t have traded it.

Impossible to get from AD? This gotta be one of the easiest professional to get from AD. Situation is now much better compared to a a few years ago. You should try several ADs. To reply to your question I would get the one that is in the better condition

Thanks all for the great advices. Sales didn’t go thru as the seller keeps changing her mind. Might go for a 126655.

I agree. I still own the 126655 and for me the mini glidelock is a must for any OF model. I reluctantly passed on a chocolate dial Daytona before it was discontinued because of the clasp.

As others have said, it can be had at the AD relatively easy. It’s my only Rolex that isn’t in demand and I love it.

Get the 126655.
The glide lock alone is worth it.

If you're keeping the watch longer than say +2 years then buy the newer model.

What's $5k extra over a couple of years of wear...??? Nothing.

I much prefer the 116655. Reliable movement, and a smaller clasp. I am sure glidelock is cool to have, but not at the cost of having a massive clasp! Just my 2 cents, as I have experience with both

The clasp is not massive. It’s much smaller than Submariner Glidelock.

So 126655 all the way!

I currently have a TT YM40 and I am planning to upgrade to the full rose gold 126655. I had a chance a few years ago to compare the 116655 and the 126655 and the mini-glide lock really was completely worth it (I just couldnt afford the 126655 at the time from the AD so I went with the TT).

For me, it's all about the fit as opposed to the movement.

Without hesitation, I would spend the money for the glide lock.

I have the 11 bought new from my AD in 2019; 7.1" wrist with E/EG OF. The piece has been super, including the fit, so glidelock for me not necessary.

Considering budget and longevity, choose based on your priority: save $5k with the 2016 116655, accepting older tech, or invest $5k more in the 2021 126655 for newer features and warranty security.

If you have the opportunity, consider seeing the watches in person or wearing them. The lack of differences may make you consider the older version more heavily; also if it fits well minus the glidelock you may have no need for it!

I agree. I have the 126655 and the glidelock is def worth the extra $. Plus, you get the updated movement and longer power reserve

There is no tangible difference between the two models except glidelock. Does it worth $5k to you?

What’s $5k? a nice 36 Explorer.

I would get the latest at retail only - it can be had pretty easily, so don't go grey!
