Replacing 126719 Blue Dial w/Meteorite?
2 Questions in here.
Was wondering if Rolex would allow/perform a dial replacement on my 126719BLRO with the Meteorite dial. I doubt seriously the RSC will do this for me. So I came here to inquire if anyone has done something such as this and if so, where did you get it done? The reason I doubt the RSC will handle a request like this is because I also have a 116518LN with an alligator bracelet that I bought new through my local AD long before Oysterflex was ever heard of, and I recently went to the NY RSC and asked if I can replace the bracelet with Oysterflex, and they said no. First, my clasp won’t fit the Oysterflex, and second they won’t even sell me a new CLASP and Oysterflex to replace the alligator bracelet! I don’t understand that. Who owns the watch? I want to update it a bit with Oysterflex and a new clasp, and they said NO! Huh? So I’m thinking if I came in there again my new 126719 and asked to swap out the dial, they’re going to tell me to pound sand! Looking for solutions folks, so all ideas are welcomed! Thanks. |

Unfortunately and as you have already suggested it anyway is a big no on getting that done with Rolex as it’s not how it left the factory. That dial alone would be interesting trying to source especially outside of Rolex.
You have the right to do whatever you want with your watch but just not via Rolex themselves |

I called Rolex RE 116719 black to blue dial replacement. They said yes if outside warrantee period. Not sure about meteorite, but good luck as I doubt they would do that one.

I believe Rolex knows what dials are desired and won't let you trade for that.
I seem to remember another member here mentioning for a rose gold DD40 they could change to any dial they wanted except for olive--same concept here. |

My thought was that this particular watch only comes in two flavors of dial. Blue and meteorite, so I’m not asking for a configuration that isn’t native to the watch to being with. I’m going to try at an AD and see what their in-house certified folks can do, if anything. Worst case is they say no, and I make a choice to go after market or not.

My (new) AD thinks it can be done but doesn’t have a pricing/order mechanism in the dealer portal. He is supposed to be looking into it for me, but nothing yet. I believe it is doable! It’s a current GEN and the meteorite dial is one of two configurations on the same SKU.
Might be an expensive upgrade however… |

You know, I should mention that the new AD I’m working with has been a pleasure! I have an oysterflex F/G coming in on order and he says it fits my clasp no problem!
So my RG Daytona will be back in the circulation in no time! Woohoo!!!🎉 |

Keep us posted, would like to know out of curiosity. Personally, I would not do it. That meteorite dial is tough to read.

I have a watch out for service. Should be ready Nina few weeks. I’ll dig into it with the service team and see what they say.

I, too am curious to see what happens with this. My account states this dial is $2,600 USD and is an EXCHANGE HQ component. To me, this indicates that Rolex has to receive this specific dial from the watch before they will replace it. Rolex are not above exceptions, however.

I’d rate your chances of a dial swap at slightly below 0%.
But I’d be happy for you if I was wrong. And if you are right, I will be heading straight to the RSC with my WG BLRO to get the same thing done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I can’t disagree with you. I’d say my odds are slim to none. However, I’m going to be an optimist here!

Unfortunately your (new) AD is giving you false hope. Rolex needs to receive a meteorite dial to replace it with a meteorite dial. Zero chance that Rolex would swap a blue/black dial for a meteorite.

You said, “My (new) AD thinks it can be done.” Then you said, “I believe it is doable!” Hence, my statement that your (new) AD is giving you false hope.

I'm in process for this change right now. I purchased, a 116710 NIB from an AD as they were closing the shop up for good. Watch was in the back of a bottom drawer of the store's safe, and was originally though "lost in transit".
Anyhow, I purchased this watch two weeks ago. Watch was shipped to my watchmaker in Pennsylvania. Watchmaker will swap the OEM black dial for an OEM meteorite dial. Cost to me is the price of the dial ($2700), plus labor. Watchmaker has access to a "parts account" (don't know if it's his or someone else's) and don't really care, as long as it is a genuine Rolex meteorite dial. Should be ready in 2 weeks, and I'll make sure to follow up with you all when it is received to include details, and photos. |

Usually if the dial was available on the model in question, it is out of warranty and you have it in for a full service, they will change dials. Naturally, you will pay for it - it isn't exactly a swap.

A 116710 is a SS GMT. I will go out on a limb and say there is no way Rolex or any authorized Rolex watchmaker is going to put a Rolex meteorite dial in a 116710. I think either there was a miscommunication somewhere or this watchmaker is taking you for a ride. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Stone dials are only swapped/serviced in Switzerland and only for the same dial as originally sold with the watch.

Rolex for sure has double standards with dial swaps! Getting a blue dial in a steel Skydweller that was not factory delivered blue is impossible for example.
On the other hand , obtaining all the colors of Beach stone dials in a whitegold regular Daytona on strap was super easy at least one or two years ago. And at that time the prices for Beach Daytona were already skyrocketing… but absolutely no issue getting such a dial. It was not even necessary to have it done in Geneva, any regular AD with authorized watchmaker was able to order the beach dials. For me the fact that they don’t let a customer upgrade it’s leather strapped Daytona to an Oysterflex model is just stupid, really makes me dislike the brand once in a while. Misplaced customer unfriendly arrogance it is. |

So I’m on the 126519 path and the config has two options. Blue dial or meteorite dial. I’m not asking for an unsupported configuration. I’ve been traveling so long haven’t been back to my AD to dig in for a final answer. I’m going to remain optimistic.

My DD40 is currently at RSC and that is correct. No olive or stone dials unless it is a direct swap out for replacement (eg meteorite for meteorite). I did end up going with the diamond indices, black dial which added 12 weeks to the service because they have to order it from Geneva.
