Question about bezel on 1680 i want to buy
Hi all,
I have a question and i hope someone can help me :) I'm planning on buying this, in my opinion gorgeous, 1680 from 1979. But this bezel stuff has got me puzzled. Fat font, lesser fat font, thin font etc. I've been looking up a lot of info including pics but i still struggle to pinpoint what bezel this watch has. My guess is that it has a MK3 bezel which should be correct for this model but can anyone confirm this or correct me? |

Is your question concerning the bezel insert? The bezel is fine.

Hard to tell anything from these pictures but this insert seems to be a period correct Mk6.
Better picture needed for proper opinion Nice Mk3 dial, I hope everything is fine with the lume on both dial and hands.

Any reason you hope everything is fine with the lume? You see something off? It is a mk1 dial as far as i can tell. L is centered under the crown and the f from ft doesnt have a slope. |

You’re probably right about Mk1, given this picture quality, I had the feeling the slope of the F(t) was flatter than Mk1.
I do not see anything off with the lume but, when patina is nice and hands seem perfect, like here, I tend to be more cautious. Macros are a must, same with the insert. Here is an example of a close to Mk6 fake insert that was convincing at first glance: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/vint...627570#p627570 All the best with your purchase !

Good point about the lume, i'm buying this from a trusted dealer who says it is not a relume but i'm taking my loupe. I'm seeing a lot of 1680s online with perfect or close to perfect colored lume so i guess they tend to discolour to perfection but one can never be too careful. Good to know that the mk6 insert is correct for this watch, will also study this with a loupe. |

You really need to be careful with those "trusted dealers," we are constantly reading horror stories about them.
