Seamaster Planet Ocean 2201.50.00

I was just informed by an Omega boutique that the Seamaster Planet Ocean 2201.50.00 is not available anymore. Are they serious, or do they just want to push the new model? The 2201.50.00 is still advertised on the Omega website...

Has Omega recently stopped production? Could anyone here tell me where to get a new one (I live in Florida), I really prefer the older design of the PO.

Any help is appreciated,

Nick

Correct, the Planet Ocean 2201.50 is no longer being made. However, some dealers have some new ones. Plus there are a number of really nice ones for sale on various watch sales forums.

I have one of the last of the 2201.50's and it is a keeper in my collection. I much prefer it to the more expensive and thicker new model. Good luck. Cheers, Bill P.

Indeed all gone. I was able to pick one up last week from an AD. Very hard to find lately. I'm loving it.

I did not know this either. What made them decide to stop production. I thought this was a really popular model.

Thanks everybody for the info, to those who PM'd me as well. I'm currently looking into the 8500 or Rolex Explorer II instead, I'll let you know if and when I pull the trigger...

Oh, and just for the record... IMO the 2500 is the perfect PO. Submarino, I really enjoyed the pics, and congrats on the watch! I think that Omega made a mistake with the decision to terminate production of the 'tool watch' 2500, because I think that the replacement (8500) is not a true 'tool watch' (sapphire case back, for example). What do you think?

It is a shame that the 2500 has been discontinued but then Rolex discontinued the 40mm (actually 39mm) when the 216570 arrived.

Personally I prefer the 2500 PO as it wears more comfortably than the thicker case of the 8500. I like the way these 42s hug my wrist:

Completely agree with you. A watch with a sapphire case back and a ceramic bezel is no longer a tool watch. That's why I have stayed away from new Rolexes the past five years. I still keep my 1675 as a tool watch and my PO fits that purpose perfectly as well.

I own the PO XL 2500 but IMHO, both PO 2500 and PO 8500 are fantastic watches. I love both, and I'm looking forward to buying the PO 8500 titanium !
