Considering this 5513...
I've got an opportunity to pick up this 5513. The serial is 1246XXX. Please disregard the bracelet, as it is not original. The owner is not a collector,,, it was inherited. Thoughts on the watch? Thanks in advance!

Over polished, pitted case, wrong hands, etc. Need better pics any way, but still !
Wait for the experts, but I would pass, unless price is VERY low.

Real shame about the case. Hands and dial look original gilt which are worth at least 50% of the value. If price is good enough may be worthwhile but need a big saving over a normal selling price.

Ridiculously over polished.
At first I thought it was a 5512 with pointed crown guards and a 5513 back. Then I looked at the pin hole in the lugs, holy cows, looks like they are one polish away from breaking through the lugs to the hole. After looking at that, I think the crown guards have been polished down to a nub as well. |

As mentioned above, case has been heavily polished. One of the worst I have seen as of recent.

not to beat a dead horse, but pass. looks like the back of the case is basically ruined. Also, non-original bracelet on a watch that looks vintage is no bueno.

what???? $6,800 for that, def pass as if you were passing a car in the fast lane going in reverse
Not trying to be rude but that is a ridiculous price for that over polished example, it does not even have the org bracelet. You can find a decent example with a little effort with gilt for around $5,000 with og bracelet. |

A Meters first is closer to $7k and a gilt is more like $10k. |

K, well most likely not going to get so lucky, but I have seen a couple gilt 5513 on the bay for $5-6k when the seller did not realize what they had such as they inherited it. Was just letting him know he can find a decent 5513 for around $5,000 that is much better quality than the watch in question. Unless very lucky op will not find a quality gilt for that price range but op can still acquire a very nice 5513 for under $6,800 that would be a much better investment than the one in question.

If the dial is pristine it's not difficult to find a nice case & blow the other out as a beater.
The dial alone is bringing 3-4 K if a very good example. At close to 5 you are close to parts value imho. But this is a definite project & if you want a good example pass as said & get a better cased one. M |
