5212 first seen : absolute beauty

Hello all,

Just got lucky enough to hold in my hand the new 5212.
What can I say ... I’m in love.
This watch has the perfect proportions, a fun to have complications, the black hands and indexes are magic.
I’ll let you judge for yourself, I hope I am not the only one madly in love with this one.
Unfortunately the sales manager said to me not to expect anything before 2020.

If the dial is as cream as it looks in real life, the contrast with the date wheel would bother me. A lot.

Dark hands do look cool, strap is rather uninspired.

Throw it on a navy blue calf skin strap and problem solved. The watch allows for many different and fun strap options.

OP, you’re not alone. I’m looking forward to this one!

Navy blue would probably look great.

It is the small details like this that posters here pick up on but go by right PP. You are right that white on cream does not work well together and a cream date wheel would have provided the needed contrast with the date number.

I will probably look to put an alligator strap on mine whenever it arrives, if the stock strap is not right for it.

The dial is a bit too busy. Also, September to February (long worded months) look very cramped compared to the short worded months March to July. Words then numbers then words again... The whole dial seems off to me. I don't mean to burst anybody's bubble.

Well I guess I will have to reserve full judgement until I see it in the flesh but I actually think the date wheel colour is just right and stops the date getting lost - I don’t doubt for 1 second they tried a cream date wheel before they decided against it.

Very much looking forward to this incoming. It is a perfect daily watch that will be fun to try with different straps!

I’m done poo pooing this one. It’s interesting, it’s steel, it’s Patek. Sometimes that’s enough.

It's interesting, its's steel, it's Patek, but whenever I look at the dial of this watch sth else doesn't feel right. Tried hard to like it but it didn't happen. Pass.

I don't know, I wonder if this is done on purpose so as to expose the cream nature of the dial, otherwise you really couldn't tell, and PP obviously could have made a white dial but chose cream.

Indeed, this watch is far too classy for that strap. Think a matching black alligator, matte or gloss depending on how the black hands look IRL, would work well.

From the photos I have seen, the dial appears to be lovely shade of white and not really cream as on the 5320G. I am on the list for this watch. A clear winner for PP.

Looks like aged premium resume paper... which works with the handwritten font
