Black Turn-O-Graph (116264) Dials
(First post here! "Lurking for over a decade!")
Turn-O-Graphs are weird. I kinda like them--the "last to die" 116264 especially. At first, I really liked the blue dial. But then I saw the "grey." Yet when I go dig on C24 (or whatever) there are none with grey (other than a random bi-metal). There are blue, black, and white. But sometimes the black isn't exactly black. It's "anthracite," or "matte black," or "gunmetal" or something. I can't tell if this is "real," or if they're all the same color and people are just setting their photo processing to max contrast/vibrancy. (thanks, Insta!) Does someone who knows far more than me have any light they can shed? Were all "black" 116264's made with "matte" black dials? Were some greyer than others? Was there a switch at some point from one black to another black? (sub question: Is there any sort of definitive online resource for the answers to these and many other Rolex questions that I have once every 5 years or so? e.g. if I have a Speedmaster question, I just google my question and add "Fratello" to it, because those guys have written an article about everything Speedmaster related. Not sure with the Rolex version might be. Or maybe I'm in the middle of it.) Thank you. (I was gonna post pix, but I don't have enough street cred for that yet. A quick google image search should do the trick for you though.) |
