Price differences in vintage 114270 explorer /16800 subs

I am in the market for a nice beater watch was hoping to spend 5-8k.

My targets are a 16800 matte black or a 14270 explorer

i just dont get some of the price differences. I can see a 16800 for about 8500 and some for 14k.

Also with the explorer i have seen 6 serial explorers go from 5k to 9k. 114270

Does anyone know why there is a large spread?

Im leaning towards an explorer. I want something i can use daily as i dont like wearing my other pieces since they are just a lil too flashy.
