It's not always about using the pusher, but rather, about over tightening the lock-nut against the case and causing stress on the slim pm pusher rod.

The lock-nut should just contact the case and not be tight at all... it just rests against the case to prevent the pusher from being pressed - it doesn't need any amount of tightening to accomplish this.
