ALS Zeitwerk question

On the discontinued zeitwerk, how did you guys change the hours, do you have to keep going through all the minutes for every hour to change the hour or was there a different crown click for the hours separate from the minutes.
I know the newer version got a push button, but I am considering the older one for a good price, but find it so unpractical if you have to change from 12 to 6 oclock by changing minute by minute..
