Date Just for Exploring?

Well, looking at getting a date just in place of my explorer 1. Really liked the Exp 1 and gave to my father, but I do like having a date. Seems to me a SS plain bezel Date Just is just about the same as an Explorer 1, just as rugged. Like how the date alternates fro mred to black and the Rolex Crown is at the 12 O Clock. Very traditional. Anyone have any thoughts on the new pyster bracelet. Does not have the safety clasp, but seems like it would be very difficult to come off. If I get, I will wear for swimming, travel, and some serious hiking.
