Would You Compliment?

My wife and I just returned home from a mall in Columbus. After we got our drinks at Starbucks, we sat down at one of the seating areas in the aisles of the mall to people watch, which is always very interesting. We sat down on a leather sofa big enough to seat four or five people, and there was already an older gentleman sitting on one end. We sat down at the other end, and after a few minutes my wife tapped me on the arm and pointed out that the man on the other end had not only dozed off, but he was wearing a beautiful TT Blue Sub ( I was wearing my SS Sub tonight)
We sat for a little while longer and he had woken up just before we decided to get up and walk away. I thought about complimenting on his Sub, but I decided not to because I wasn't sure if he would have appreciated me staring at his watch while he was napping in the mall.
I was just curious if anyone here ever compliments fellow Rolex owners on their watches even if they are complete strangers.
