Watch stopping?

Recently received my vintage GMT back a week ago after service by an independent repairman. Watch was running fine when received and since. I haven't worn the watch but have had it on a winder. Set the winder to give 650 to 700 alternating turns a day. I check the watch several times a day and its been spot on. The winder has been a bit noisy so I know it has been running at night. Checked the watch at 11:30 AM this morning and it had lost 4 hours! The date rolled over OK at midnight so the only thing I can figure is that the watch stopped dead for 4 hours. However it was running when I looked at it, I reset it, put it on, and it's been right on ever since. Any clues on what the H*** is wrong with this thing?
