Incoming Grand Seiko High-Beat GMT!
This is one I've had my eye on for a long time.
Over the years, as my collection evolved and changed, I formed a great deal of respect and admiration for Grand Seiko. As Hodinkee's Ben Clymer says, it truly is a hidden gem of high horology. That said, I'm ecstatic for finally adding a GS to the collection. After selling my BLNR, a gmt seemed like the perfect addition to fill that position in my line-up, and the elegant way in which GS executed the complication on this watch made it all the more special. The case construction, hand polishing and dial work are something else. A watch to be admired with a loupe. Anyway, here is the first wrist shot of my new SBGJ001. To those who don't quite get GS yet, my advice is: handle the watch. Hold it in natural lighting, turn it against the light, look at the multiple facets of the case and their mirror hand polish. Check the dial texture. Watch as the elements of the dial play in the light... and then form your opinion. I've sure formed mine. |
