Time really does change everything; I remember years ago, my dad gave my brother his prized Rolex- at that time, I had just started work and knew for certain that I could never afford a watch at that level. Come to think of it, even run-of-the-mill quartz watches were an effort.

I would browse TRF even then but never registered- what was the use, I knew I'd never say "INCOMING!!!" or whatever was the right way to announce a new watch
Cut to maybe a decade later; after months and months of saving, I finally walked into our local AD, spent three (!) hours there and floated out, supremely happy, with my first ever Rolex- a beautiful TT Daytona with a lovely slate grey dial, for me the best Daytona ever (naturally, eh!)
That was also the day I registered on TRF
